Quite light, but very well balanced. Forged one piece construction from surgical grade steel. The diamond blasted handles are very good, offering a secure grip even when wet. Blades are finely honed, slicing through everything from ribeye steak to soft tomatoes with ease. They also seem to hold their edge well. Utter bargain for £80 for the five piece set including block.

Sabatier have a great reputation and if this knife set is anything to go by then it is well deserved. You get a great selection of knives in a sturdy knife block which not only holds the knives well, but looks attractive in your kitchen as well. The knives are extremely well balanced and the rubber handles make them comfortable to grip and use. I have had my set for many months now and they still hold their cutting edge well. You don't realise just how much a good, sharp knife can make life easier in the kitchen until you buy one and this is a pretty good entry level set. You may want to buy additional knives to supplement this set as your cooking skills progress, or as you require specific knives, but for a first set to get you up and running this can't be beaten.

Feel free to check out my blog which can be found on my profile page.

Incredibly sharp, beautifully balanced knives. They seem to be maintaining their sharpness well too. Would have liked a slightly larger chef's knife but a minor quibble.

After purchasing a set of knives (Kitchencraft) for a friends birthday and been most impressed with them. I decided to replace my own set with something similar. Seen as my old knives were Sabatier I went for a more modern design and picked the Steller FM.

Well the service from Harts was brilliant. Not only did they send me an e-mail confirming my purchase, they sent me one when they despatched the knives via courier mail. With them turning up the next day.

So what do you get for your money seeing as you aren't informed above, well you receive:
3.5" Parer Knife
4.5" Potato Knife
6" Cooks Knife
9" Carving Knife
8" Bread Knife.

The only gripes (And they are minor at that_ is that the two smaller knives are too similar. The cooks knife is a little small and that the caving knife is huge and I can just fit it inside the drawer. (I refuse to use a knife block). However those small blemishes aside. I am most impressed with my order, so much so have ordered and received a 20cm Cooks knife and a 18cm Santoku Knife all in the Steller FM range.

As others have mentioned , the knives are quite light, but sturdy, the handles really have to be felt in which to be appreciated

The block is quite sturdy, however mine has been recycled as I don't beleive in them. The reason I've given the set 4 instead of 5 stars is simply because the cooks knife was too small for me and the carving knife (Does anybody still use them?) could have been just that little bit smaller.

Strangely enough, this set is apparently the old version of Steller FM knives, but for some reason the new knives are just that little bit cheaper.

Me, I'm very happy with these

The knives are brilliant - They are incredibly sharp and durable. The block is solid and compliments them well. A good Buy.

I bought these knives on the back of the customer reviews on Amazon and at the time they were reduced from silly money to an amount I was willing to pay for good quality kitchen knives, but I am some what disappointed.

I have had these knives for about a year now and they are already looking very tired and worn (and I really dont use them that often). Unlike other reviews they are sharp to begin with but soon blunt (after 2 months), which annoyed me slightly. Also the knives seem to be rusting in parts (either that or its some other stain from washing them up manually).

I think like me if you want good quality kitchen knives that do the business you have to pay good money unfortunately. Ask yourself the question that I wish I would have asked myself when I purchased these knives "Why are they now so cheap?". If its too good to be true, it often is.

These knives are a vast improvement over my previous knives. I use them all the time. I wash them by hand after reading other reviews that they get spots, and I haven't had any problems. The handles are metal and I was afraid they would be uncomfortable or slippery, but they aren't. I would definitely recommend this product.

One year later: I still use these knives all the time, and they have stayed very sharp. However, although I never washed them in the dishwasher, they still started to get rust spots on them. Now I hand wash them and dry them right away. A bit of a hassle, so I took away one star. I still love them, though.

Was on the hunt for good quality knives at a reasonable price to replace our horribly blunt ones at home. We chose these and delivery was quick and they came packaged well. I agree with the other reviewers that the block itself isn't very heavy and if you really try to rock it then it feels like it might tip over but not once since having it has it actually fallen over or been any kind of an issue to worry about. The knives themselves are brilliant, very sharp and feel of good quality. We are very glad we bought these, they've made the whole chopping/dicing/slicing experience much more enjoyable.
