5.0 out of 5 stars Classic 70's American Metal
Back in the seventies a certain handful of U.S. hard rock bands encapsulated what American Hard Rock was all about. They were Aerosmith, Kiss, Angel, Legs Diamond, The Godz and Starz. Starz sat in the middleground somewhere between the hard hard rock of Aerosmith and the pop rock of Kiss and later Angel albums.
This is their first album and it really is a great album...

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun Memories and Music From the 70's
I'd actually give this album three and 1/2 stars. When I think of Starz, I tend to think of fun melodic music from the mid seventies. They opened for quite a few big bands in the their day and won over a still-faithful legion of fans.
Starz was never a big commercial success, but they did manage to put out five albums of material. Released in 1976, this is the band's...

This is their first album and it really is a great album check out the band logo for a start only Aerosmith's is cooler.
To the music the album kicks off with "Detroit Girls" which Micheal Lee Smith sings a salute to all the girls the band have 'met' whilst touring especially those of Detroit natch. A few excellent songs in and we come across a true Starz anthem "Boys in Action" where Micheal shouts over Richie Ranno's guitar and Joe X Dubes drums "Do you want action? well that's just what you're gonna get!". The album seriously rocks and finishes with the superb chest beater "Now I Can". Amazingly Starz went on to better this album with the follow up "Violation", and the albums "Attention Shoppers" and "Coliseum Rock" are also worthy additions to any rockers collection.

Starz was never a big commercial success, but they did manage to put out five albums of material. Released in 1976, this is the band's first album. On this album are several songs that became staples in the band's live shows: "Detroit Girls," "Boys In Action," "Fallen Angel," and "Pull The Plug."
I recently bought a copy for myself since I missed the Metal Blade releases from the late 80's/early 90's (nice collector's items!), and am impressed with the sound quality. There could be some more information included with this release, but I'm not too picky; I'm just glad the album got to see the light of day again!
