5.0 out of 5 stars Never The Bride
Their music crosses over rock blues and soul in such a way that they alone can perform, write and produce. "Songs to move your body mind and soul."

3.0 out of 5 stars NEVER THE BRIDE...Surprise
Excellent album!
seen this band a few times and being a big fan of Janis Joplin this is great for me.
Nikki has a voice when live, that shut your eyes and you could be back in the 60`s at a Joplin gig.
Been who is the co writer and all round band musician is brilliant.
THIS BAND DESERVE TO BE FAMOUS!
and when you hear this you will know why...

Their music crosses over rock blues and soul in such a way that they alone can perform, write and produce. "Songs to move your body mind and soul."
The band had its first big break with their moving interpretation of Going to California on the platinum selling Led Zeppelin tribute album "Encomium" swiftly followed by the release of their 1995 self-titled album "Never the Bride" on the Atlantic label in the USA.
Since then they have sold records all around the world. They are continually being "discovered" by music fans with the help of the Internet and their web site www.neverthebride.com as well as conventional means. Their live following has gone from strength to strength following performances around the world from supporting The Who at Wembley arena to ZZ Top in Sydney Australia, a spot on the Plant and Page gig at The Forum in Los Angeles as well as shows in their own right in the UK, Europe and the USA. They have toured with other rock greats such as Alice Cooper, Peter Frampton, Paul Rogers, Gary Brooker of Procol Harem and Roger Daltry when they kicked off their tour of England and Europe at The Royal Albert Hall as guests on The Rock Symphony Tour. A recent addition to this list is sharing the stage with the Chrissie Hynde and The Pretenders here in the UK. To promote their new album, the band is about to embark on a 50-date tour with Ex Marilion front man Fish, taking in all the all the major cities in Europe.
For the first time in their career, Never the Bride have had the recording freedom to produce an album free from commercial restraints. The result being "Surprise" - a powerful fusion of songwriting and performance, blending rock, soul and rolling melodies. The album was mainly written and recorded in Australia and is Never The Bride's most recent album and also their most accomplished and mature work to date.

THE BAND
Nikki Lamborn the lead singer is one of the most talented vocalists in the music world today with a voice so powerful and moving it can knock you off your feet. Roger Daltrey, who has dueted with Nikki many times, once gave possibly the highest accolade when he said " Nikki is the best female vocalist since Janis Joplin, and I should know what I am talking about, I knew Janis!" This has been proved over and over again by the audience reaction to her live stage performances.
Nikki has recently taken part in an episode of the Channel 4 series "Faking It" where she helps a classical singer become a rock singer. This was televised on 10th February 2004.
Catherine "The Been" Feeney is not only an incredibly talented keyboard player and occasional guitarist; she is the main composer and inspiration behind the songs that together with Nikki's voice make Never the Bride unique.
Murray Gould on lead guitar can only be described as a phenomenally talented guitarist and we are very excited to have him in the band. He has played live and in the studio with Elton John and has recently been involved on recordings in the Dido and Faithless camp. Other credits include writing 'Ballet Black' for the English National Ballet and an album of Surf music, surfing being his next passion to guitar playing.
Gordon Davis on bass guitar His recording and touring credits include working with Jon Bon Jovi, Dave Stewart, Robbie Williams and George Clinton.
John Tonks on drums has played and recorded with many artist the latest of those being Lemon Jelly and Paul Oakenfold
Collectively a force and power not to be missed!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you don't buy it - you should be ashamed!!, 4 July 2005
This review is from: Surprise (Audio CD)
In this world of music moguls trying to be famous, and pretty dire 'pop idol' led acts, Never The Bride stands out like a new penny amongst well worn coinage - they simply are a class act. How they have never become HUGE is mind boggling, because the talents of vocalist Nikki Lamborn, and instrumentalist, Catherine 'The Been' Feeney, are immense. A great album - check out their other ones also - even better as a live act - no hestitation in recommeding this wonderful band and its recorded works to everyone who'll listen - you'll get a very nice surprise.

5.0 out of 5 stars A rare and powerful musical talent, 28 Jun 2005

Nicky Lambourn's vocals carry a power and emotion lacking in many modern female singers. Nicky is considered by many to be one of the top vocalists on the circuit for many years. Combined with Catherine 'Been' Feeney's powerful and melodic songwriting and musical skills and you have a band that deserve worldwide recognition.
From spine-tingling high productions like 'The Living Tree' (a sure fire hit), to powerful rock ballads (I'd Do It For You) and emotion racked love songs (If I Counted To Ten), these girls have it all.
I have seen these girls live on three occasions to date, and have every intention of seeing them again and again. Definitely a 'BUY IT NOW' album.

This album, is one of the greatest ever recorded. The versitility of this band is enormous. Their live performance of 'Kiss Kiss', 'This is a cry for love' and 'Who do you love', really rock the venues. While 'How do you sleep', 'When its all too late' and the semi-classical 'If I counted to ten' make you reach for a tissue, as these songs are delivered with incomparable passion and emotion. 'The living tree' is in a class of it's own. Dame Shirley Bassey released this as her latest single. The Dame does not record anything unless its exceptionally outstanding. I recommend this Surprise Album of Never The Bride, to all of you who appreciate a great sound, great music, and phenomenon vocals. Get buying it.... right now!!!!!!!!! It's worth every penny. LOL
