simply, It encapsulates an era of british music that we may well never see again.
Political themes abound all over this collection of (almost) perfect pop. It has Soul, Gospel, Accapella and everything in between.
Two of the members of this band have gone on to great things. One as a superstar DJ and the other as part of one of the best selling british bands ever.
Who would have thought that back in the 80's Norman Cook & Paul Heaton would have such different carrer paths? Certainly not I.
The DVD bonus disc alone would be worth the purchase price. These are cheap videos from the self confessed "4th best band in Hull", But they are full of Fun (even former band members appear after leaving!!!).
If you like Fat boy slim, but hate the beautiful south, you will love this. You will hear him honing his ear for a beat.
If you hate fat boy slim, but love the beautiful south, You will love this. Paul's voice has a nievety and a range that is unequeled by anyone still to this day.
Quite simply, This is one of the finest bands ever to grace the charts.
I thank you for your patience in reading this

If you want to hear the Housemartins at their classic best then buy this. It encapsulates the youthful feel that this band brought to the eighties music scene.
The addition of the DVD will, unfortunately, enable all the 35+ age group to realise that it is not only policemen that looked young then but also Paul Heaton and Norman Cook
All in all a great buy for under a tenner, what else would you do with it buy birdseed?

This album takes me back to the good old days!! Even though I have a lotof Housemartin stuff on vinyl it is good to have the cd in the car to singalong with!! The DVD makes me feel very old when watching the boys -they don't look old enough to have left school!!!! I can't beleive thatit was so long ago that the songs were hits - I still know all the words! A must for any Housemartin (or Beautiful South) fan!
