4.0 out of 5 stars Quality matches - true survivor series matchups, 19 Feb 2004
This review is from: WWE - Survivor Series 2003 [DVD] (DVD)
Team Angle (Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Bradshaw, Hardcore Holly and John Cena) v. Team Lesnar (Brock Lesnar, Big Show, A-Train, Nathan Jones and Matt Morgan) - elimination tag team match.
(9/10)
Technically versus strength at it's best. Hardcore Holly returns after having 13 months out with a broken neck. Watch out for a certain crossface on a certain individual
Molly v. Lita - women's championship match
(7/10)
On Lita's return for the women's championship. You could tell it wasn't 5-star Lita by any means, but they both put up 1 hell of a fight for a title that they both really want
Kane v. Shane McMahon - Ambulance match
(9/10)
Wow, these guys go through hell, fire, brimstone and even glass! You even see a modified "coast-2-coast" by Shane-O-Mac
Los Guerreros v. Basham Brothers - Smackdown tag team championship match
(6/10)
Some good wrestling but overall this match had a pointless ending, as pointless as the ending of Ric Flair and Batista v. Dudleyz at Royal Rumble 2004
Team Austin (RVD, Booker T, The Dudleyz and Shawn Michaels) v. Team Bischoff (Christian, Chris Jericho, Mark Henry, Scott Steiner and Randy Orton - oh yes, the legend killer himself) - elimination tag team match
(9/10)
This was an ok match until, well you'll see
Undertaker v. Vince McMahon - Buried Alive Match
(9/10)
Mr McMahon has a "higher power"??? huh? Well, this match is the lead up for a huge fued starting at Wrestlemania XX - maybe the biggest ever
Goldberg v. Triple H - Raw World Heavyweight Title Match
(8/10)
This match made everyone "Believe the Hype" - a better than ok match which showed how much one of these competitors wanted this title.
A great PPV although Vince v Taker should have really been the main event.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, 23 July 2004
This review is from: WWE - Survivor Series 2003 [DVD] (DVD)
Clearley the best event of the year and has two of the most bloodiest matches in WWE. With 5 main events this DVD is a must buy product. With a Buried Alive and an Ambulance match this makes the event hardcore. Watch Vince and HBK get an almighty blood attack on them. John Cena opens up with a good rap and Goldberg ends the night retaining the World title and giving hammar shots to every Evoulution member. There is a SMACKDOWN and RAW elimination matches and a few Card fillers as well.
MATCH 1 Kurt Angle, Chris Beniot, John Cena, Hardcore Holly & Bradshaw VS. Brock Lesnar, Big Show, Matt Morgan, Nathan Jones & A- Train
Eliminations are quick but a good opener 8/10
MATCH 2 Women's Title Match
Lita VS. Molly Holly
A card filler. Good women's match. 5/10
MATCH 3 Ambulance Match
Kane VS. Shane Mcmahon
An amazing match but not as good as the last man standing match at Unforgiven. 8/10
MATCH 4 Tag Team Titles Match
Basham Brothers VS. Los Guerreros
Another card filler but the match turned out to be a good normal tag match. Eddie can do much better than Chavo. 6/10
MATCH 5 Shawn Micheals, Dudley Boyz, Booker T & RVD VS. Scott Steiner, Y2J, Christian, Randy Ortan & Mark Henry
The best match of the night and possible one of the best matches of the year. Watch HBK get busted wide open to create a blood bath. Shame Austin is now fired! 10/10
MATCH 6 Buried Alive Match
Undertaker VS. Mr. Mcmahon
Vince gets himself in a blood bath as well. A good ending to start the rivalry between Kane and Undertaker. Glad Vince got a hell of a beating! Though. 9/10
MATCH 7 World Title Match
Triple H VS. Goldberg
A bit short for a last match but the action turned out to be a good one with chairs and a sledge hammar. But the Goldberg/Triple H story is getting way to boring but at least you see Evoulution get crushed by the champ. 7/10
A perfect PPV!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Survivor Series to Date, 3 Feb 2007
By
C. Court (London, Bow United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: WWE - Survivor Series 2003 [DVD] (DVD)
SmackDown Survivor Series Match

Team Angle (Kurt Angle, John Cena, Chris Benoit, Bradshaw, and Hardcore Holly) vs Team Lesnar (Brock Lesnar, The Big Show, Nathan Jones, Matt Morgan, and A-Train) 8/10

A nice rap from Cena at the beginning but the match was short but it was quite enjoyable to watch non the less

Women's Title Match

Molly Holly vs Lita 3/10

Another women's match that you can see on nearly every episode of Raw

Ambulance RAW Match

Kane vs Shane McMahon 7/10

Not as good as their last man standing match two months ago but it did have some extreme spots but it was over very quickly

WWE Tag Team Title Match

The Basham Brothers vs Los Guerreros 5/10

A tag match that wasn't good but it wasn't bad

RAW Survivor Series Match: If Team Bischoff wins Austin is fired from the WWE, if Team Austin wins Austin gets to raise as much hell as he wants

Team Bischoff (Scott Steiner, Christian, Chris Jericho, Mark Henry, and Randy Orton) vs Team Austin (Booker T., Buh-Buh Ray Dudley, D-Von Dudley, Rob Van Dam, and Shawn Michaels) 10/10

This match is defiantly match of the night and should have been the main event HBK is superb and the ending is sad and memorable as well

Buried Alive SmackDown Match

Vince McMahon vs The Undertaker 6/10

This is SmackDown's bold attempt at their main event but doesn't come off very well but the ending was a surprise and it does set the path for WrestleMania 20 very nicely

World Heavyweight Title Match

Goldberg vs Triple H 7/10

Could have been a lot better but I think Triple H and Goldberg matches are getting a little too boring

With some excellent tag team elimination matches and some career ending matches Survivor Series is a card I think everyone will remember in the years to come

4.0 out of 5 stars Survivor Series 2003 A Fall From Grace, 20 May 2004
This review is from: WWE - Survivor Series 2003 [DVD] (DVD)
Well this is probably the best PPV of 2003. Its got the special matches and it has perhaps one of the greatest performances from the legendary Shawn Michaels. Anyway heres the match analysis
Match 1 Team Angle V Team Lesnar
Why the hell this match was on first im not quite sure as its a great tag match. The match goes out a fairly steady pace until Angle gets the tag and this match really comes alive. Sadly he doesnt last that long but he was good while he was there. An amazing FU from cena on the 500 pounder to finish the match.
4/5
Match 2 Womens Title Match
Supposedly one of the best womens matches of the year... id hate to see the worst!! Ok its not that bad but the ending sucks!!!
2/5
Match 3 Ambulance Match Shane V Kane
Well this got the PPV back on track!!! Great match reminded me of the hardcore match at WM17. Some nice bumps from kane and great kamikaze wrestling from Shane. Probably better thant the main event. 4/5
Match 4 WWE Tag championship Bashams V Los Guerreros
Lots of people hated this match but i didnt think it was that bad. Some nice wrestling from eddie and it helped to further the feud between the Guerrero's
Match 5 Stone Cold's teams VS Eric Bischoff's team
Well when you watch the first few minutes of this match youll wonder what the fuss is about... but soon after that we see some some spectacular moves from the Dudleyz and RVD. Plus Shawn Michaels puts on one of the best matches ive ever seen from him.
I dont give 5/5's out very often but this match deff deserves it so heres my first 5/5!!!!!
Match 6 Buried Alive match Undertaker Vs Mcmahon
I loved this match... although its not really a match. Its basically a squash match with Vince getting one offensive move in. But the reason i loved it well I hate Vince Mcmahon and in this match he messes up his blade job and bleeds for the whole match... fun for the family!!!! anyway this match gets a 3/5
Main Event Goldberg V Triple H
Well theres two reasons why this match wasnt great. Number 1 it has Triple H in it who has been over pushed and the fans are bored with. Number 2 it has goldberg in it. Dont get me wrong Goldberg has great fan backing but if you look at him wrestling he has a very limited style. I think hes has about 6 moves that he uses. Although these two were in it they did manage a fairly good match but it wasnt up to the standard of Stone Colds team V Eric Bischoffs team so ill give it a 3/5.
Well that rounds up this review hope it was helpful and i deffinatley recommend buying this DVD as it was the best PPV of 2003

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Of 2003, 5 Mar 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: WWE - Survivor Series 2003 [DVD] (DVD)
WWE Survivor Series 2003 could easily be viewed as the best pay per view of the year, and delivered some superb action from both the Raw and Smackdown brands. WWE returned to its roots and presented two high profile traditional elimination Survivor Series matches, from the Raw side Team Bischoff vs Team Austin and from the Smackdown side Team Angle vs Team Lesnar. Both these bouts delivered some great action, in particular the Raw match seeing a superb performance from the legendary Shawn Michaels. The match also offered some choice singles and tag action, with the blood soaked Buried Alive match between Undertaker and Vince McMahon, which while hardly remembered as a classic has played a pivotal role in the buildup to Wrestlemania 20 and the second confrontation between Goldberg and HHH, which was superior to their previous Unforgiven encounter dominating proceedings. The much hyped final encounter between Shane and Kane was inferior to their Unforgiven bout, but thankfully put an end to their interminable feud. Molly Holly defended her title against Lita in a solid bout, and Los Guerreros challenged the Basham Brothers for the WWE tag team titles in a solid, if slightly short encounter. Overall a great pay per view, and a worthwile buy whether you missed it or not.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great and promising card, but not amazing, 26 Feb 2004
This review is from: WWE - Survivor Series 2003 [DVD] (DVD)
Survivor Series 2003 was highly anticipated by everyone, there were some great matches booked and the finished result was pleasing.
Team Angle (Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Hardcore Holly, Bradshaw, John Cena) vs. Team Lesnar (Brock Lesnar, Big Show, A-Train, Matt Morgan, Nathan Jones)-8/10
Don't see why this was at the beginning, although i suppose you need a good opener to get the crowd going. Some great moments, including Cena getting that 500-pound beast Big Show on his shoulders. Quality.
Womens Championship: Molly Holly (c) vs. Lita-6/10
Womens matches aren't usually that impressive but this was one was suprisingly ok, even though the wrong person won.
Tag Team Championship: Basham Brothers (c) vs. Los Guerreros-7/10
More of a match made for Smackdown, although Eddie really shines in this. Chavo annoys me and the Bashams really didn't deserve to be the champions in the first place. Won't tell you who wins though ;)
Ambulance Match: Kane vs. Shane McMahon-9/10
Right from the beginning Shane and Kane are all over each other. A great feud leading up to a brutal match. Matches with these two are always interesting as they both pull of some really good moves. Shane dives onto Kane through Spanish announce table, dives off ambulance onto him, backs car into him, gets tombstone. It's all good.
Team Austin: (Shawn Michaels, Booker T, Rob Van Dam, Dudley Boyz) vs. Team Bischoff: (Scott Steiner, Chris Jericho, Christian, Randy Orton, Mark Henry)-10/10
What an amazing match. This is the match of the night. Great action from all superstars involved and the legendary Shawn Michaels puts in a spectacular performance as usual. But damn you, Batista.
Buried Alive Match: Undertaker vs. Vince McMahon-7/10
More of a spectacle than a match, it didn't really have much of a good buildup, but still fun to watch. Vince bleeds from Taker's first punch and there some shocks in there as well.
World Heavyweight Championship Match: Goldberg (c) vs. HHH-8/10
What this is doing on Main Event is beyond me. Sure, it's a good feud and these two are great wrestlers, but the Austin/Bischoff match was far superior. Still a good match, showing that Goldberg isn't gonna let Evolution get in his way.
Altogether a fair good PPV, pity the cruiserweight title match was shifter to Sunday Night Heat but anyway. What you can expect from a Raw-Smackdown joint PPV, great action from great wrestlers. Well worth the money, just for the Austin-Bischoff match alone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best PPV of 2003, 6 Mar 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: WWE - Survivor Series 2003 [DVD] (DVD)
I had high expectations of this pay-per-view, and it definitely didn't disappoint.
Match 1: 10 Man Elimination Tag - Brock Lesnar, Big Show, A-Train, Nathan Jones, Matt Morgan Vs. Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Bradshaw, Hardcore Holly, John Cena - I expected this match to be much later on, but it did get the show off to a flying start. The poorer wrestlers like A-Train and Hardcore Holly go immediately, making it a much better match than if they had stayed. Unfortunately, as Brock Lesnar was involved here, he didn't defend hid WWE title during the show, but judging by his title match at the Royal Rumble, that's not a bad thing. 8/10
Match 2: Womens Title Match - Lita Vs. Molly Holly - Nothing special, but you can't expect too much from the women's matches. This one has a particularly feeble ending to it. 5/10
Match 3: Ambulance Match - Kane Vs. Shane McMahon - I didn't think they'd be able to top their amazing match at Unforgiven (the 2nd best match of the year) and they couldn't. But never the less this was a highly entertaining and brutal match. 8/10
Match 4: WWE Tag Team Championship - Los Guerreros Vs. The Basham Brothers - Eddie Guerrero's talents are wasted fighting people like the Basham Brothers, who are only the champions because Smackdown doesn't have enough wrestlers on it's roster to have anyone better as champions. Not brilliant, but not as bad as it could have been. 5/10
Match 5: 10 Man Elimination Tag - Team Austin: Shawn Michaels, Bubba Dudley, D-Von Dudley, Rob Van Dam, Booker T Vs. Team Bischoff: Chris Jericho, Christian, Scott Steiner, Mark Henry, Randy Orton - This was the best match of the year, regardless of what the other matches were, this warrants you buying this pay-per-view. This match has plenty of twists and turns, is full of excitement and a surprsing end, coupled with a vintage Shawn Michaels performance and the most evil super kick he's ever done, performed on Christian. 10+/10
Match 6: Buried Alive Match - Undertaker Vs. Vince McMahon - It's fairly predictable who wins this, but how he wins it is fairly shocking. It's also fairly funny watching Vince take such a vigourous beating. 7/10
Match 7 - World Heavyweight Championship - Triple H Vs. Goldberg - Their match at Unforgiven was the dullest match I've ever seen, and I feared more of the same. But it was actually a very solid match, and quite exciting. Not bad at all. 8/10

5.0 out of 5 stars Great great show but just good main event..., 28 Feb 2011
By
This review is from: WWE - Survivor Series 2003 [DVD] (DVD)
Survivor Series has always been one of my favourite PPV's and I love this one as one of the best of them. Here are the matches:

- Team Angle of Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Hardcore Holly, Bradshaw (to be later known as JBL) and John Cena vs Team Lesnar of Brock Lesnar, Big Show, Nathan Jones, Matt Morgan and A-Train. This was a very good and very entertaining match that started with a big brawl before the bell and some quick elliminations, a great performance from Cena. 4.25/5

- Shane McMahon vs Kane in an ambulance match. An incredible match with Shane really putting himself in harms way to pull of some amazing highlights. Both men did a great job. 4.5/5

- Molly Holly vs Lita. Well it's a divas match so expectations arn't too high. This match was average for divas and Lita never really got ariel. 1.5/5

- Basham Brothers vs Los Guerreros. The Basham Brothers and they're wierd persona and manager is enough to put you off but it was a better than average match with some good moments. 2.5/5

- The Undertaker vs Mr. McMahon in a buried alive match. An almost entirely one-sided match with a good ending. Sometimes, in a sick way, it's just fun to see somebody be beaten to a bloody pulp. 4/5

- Stone Cold's Team of Shawn Michaels, Booker T, Rob Van Dam and the Dudleys vs Eric Bishoff's Team of Chris Jericho, Christian, Scott Steiner, Mark Henry and Randy Orton. The match itself wasn't as good as the other one but the conditions and emotion behind the match was enough to make it a great match. Another blood bath as Shawn was a complete mess for a fair bit of the match and of course, the sad ending... should have been the main event. 4.25/5

- Goldberg vs Triple H. Wasn't a great match but wasn't that bad either though it did get boring in some parts. Evolution interferance (obviously) but the right guy won. 3/5

Overall this was a really really good PPV and well worth the buy. 4.25/5

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome Survivor Series, 3 Oct 2010
By
This review is from: WWE - Survivor Series 2003 [DVD] (DVD)
Great Survivor Series from 2003 with some awesome matches involving some of the greatest talents in the WWE.

World Heavyweight Championship Match ****
Goldberg vs. Triple H

Quite a good main event between Triple H and Goldberg. I really loved Triple H's performance in this one as he was mega focused on getting his title back from Goldberg after losing it to him at the Unforgiven PPV. This match itself had a bit of a fun side when all of Evolution showed up and Goldberg slamming the sledgehammer that was brought into the match into the likes of Flair, Orton and Batista. Towards the end Goldberg gave Triple H a perfect Spear and Jackhammer to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.

Buried Alive Match ****
Undertaker vs. Mr. McMahon

Not a classic but overall quite fun to see the first 10-15mins of this match seeing Mr McMahon get his ass whooped by the Undertaker. Quite surprised that Mr McMahon got busted up when Taker gave him one punch to the face and blood was just gushing out of Mr McMahon. The match itself was gruesome but the match ended up with a shocker of Kane helping Mr McMahon to burie The Undertaker at a PPV he debuted at.

Classic Survivor Series Match *****
Team Austin (Booker T, Bubba Ray Dudley, Devon Dudley, RVD and Shawn Michaels) vs. Team Bischoff (Chris Jericho, Christian, Mark Henry, Randy Orton and Scott Steiner)

My second favourite match of the night where Austin/Bischoff formed a team of their own. The match is most remembered for the effort of Shawn Michaels who was left the last man in Austins team as all the other members were eliminated. Shawn Michaels did all he could for Austin until Batista came out and ruined the match by giving Shawn Michaels a Batista Bomb. It would have been great to have seen Shawn Michaels win this match because he was the top star of this great Survivor Series elimination tag match.

WWE Tag Team Championship Match ***
Basham Brothers vs. Eddie & Chavo Guerrero

Okish tag match with some good spots from Los Guerreros. Would say that Los Guerreros should have won this tag match to become tag champions but the Bashams had some help on retaining their tag team titles.

The Final Encounter Ambulance Match *****
Shane McMahon vs. Kane

Match of the night for me because I loved this rivalry between Shane McMahon and Kane. I loved the way that this match got took all over the arena and the segment in the parking lot was just great. I loved the way that Shane was performing when he did a elbow drop on Kane through the announcers table and a sky high jump off the ambulance onto Kane who had a trash can in front of him. It was a shame that Shane didn't win this match but Kane totally demolished Shane at the end by using the ambulance as a weapon and finally Kane signalled the end for Shane with a tombstone piledriver. Awesome Match :)

Women's Championship Match ***
Molly Holly vs. Lita

Not a bad divas match considering it had the loveable Lita in it. I would say that Molly Holly was impressive in this divas match. Lita did do pretty well and she had her moments of domination but she fell into a turnbuckle that Molly Holly undone to cheat her way into retaining her title.

Classic Survivor Series Match ****

Team Angle (Bradshaw, Chris Benoit, Hardcore Holly, John Cena and Kurt Angle) vs. Team Lesnar (A-Train, Big Show, Brock Lesnar, Matt Morgan and Nathan Jones)

A great way to start the Survivor Series 2003 PPV with a traditional Survivor Series elimination tag match. Have to say that this was my second favourite elimination match of the night and would say that this match kicked off Survivor Series to a very good level.
