5.0 out of 5 stars Best Poetic/Folk/Dancehall/Reggae album ever!, 8 July 2010

This review is from: Gangsta Blues (Audio CD)
Ms Tanya Stephens is without doubt one of the most creative artist ever! She has her own original style. I can't actually compare her with any reggae artist as she is clearly unique in her delivery, with her distinctive raw sound & beautiful melodies, which is what makes her stand out.

She share's some similarities with artist such as: Tracey Chapman, Gil Scott Heron & Me'Shell Ndegeocello, purely because of her poetic & soulful, honest approach.

'Gangsta Blues' should have received a Grammy for best female artist & album and song(s) (too many to choose from). Her other albums are also definitely worth checking out.

Whether you are into reggae or not, this artist crosses over to anyone who appreciates good, 'heart felt' music.

This Woman is in a class of her own, so don't miss out!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Really Fantastic CD Worthy of anybodys collection, 1 May 2004
This review is from: Gangsta Blues (Audio CD)
This has to be the most exiting thing I have listened to for a long time, longer than I care to remember. The track "It's a Pity" was what dew my attention to it in the first place, after hearing it a couple of times on "Spinner" I had to get the album just for that. What I got was an Excellent Raga/Dancehall album so well put together with feeling and pride from the artist that I was stunned that this genre (which I love) can be used to such a good affect. The last album was 4 years ago now, and this one shows a lot of that time has been spent on this one.

One of the most interesting artists currently working in this genre - and on a par with any work in the contemporary rock/reggae field.
