5.0 out of 5 stars Music with a Soul, 1 Jun 2004

The blend of Cigala's raw Flamenco voice and the fluid piano work of the Cuban master make this one of the best Spanish Albums I have heard. It cries and soars. Brilliant !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sublime, 22 Jun 2006

This beautiful CD features the unlikely pairing of the octogenarian Cuban piano player, Bebo Valdes, with Flamenco singer Dielgo "El Cigala", the rightful successor to Camaron. The results are sublime, sensuous, deeply beautiful. El Cigala's passionate Flamenco vocals backed by Bebo's bewitching piano playing. Not to be missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars exquisitely passionate music, 17 Aug 2004
This review is from: Lagrimas Negras (Audio CD)
Cigala and Bebo Valdes have done a fine job crossing generations and oceans to discover the commonalities between Caribbean and the Flamenco music, coming up with a romantic marriage of the two cultures using rumbas, guajira, sons and boleros. All the songs are classics out of the Latin music tradition, using just a handful of players in support.
It's simply amazing, exquisitely passionate music to come out in ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars I wonderful music experience!, 31 Jan 2005
This review is from: Lagrimas Negras (Audio CD)
This record is simply wonderful! I bought it without having heard a single song before but was not disappointed but simply surprised over how good it is! Even if you don't regularly listen to Flamenco you'll like this. This record will brighten up your morning coffee, help you relax for an afternoon siesta as well as accompany you for a glass of red wine or a dinner with friends.

If you like the Gypsy Kings style of music, you will definitely LOVE Lagrimas Negras. This Latin music album is very original and it is no wonder why it is currently the #1 album in the Latin music industry. Just pour yourself a glass of wine or a cold beer and sit back and enjoy the music....or put the CD on and do the housework chores and it will be a piece of cake. It will take you to another world and before you know it, you will be done with the work and be able to kick off your shoes and relax or dance!
