You can't exactly go wrong when you apply the worlds greatest sport onto the world's greatest sports management framework.
Essentially that's what this game is.
However, it has been expanded to include the playoffs, minor league system, and all other things hockey related, in a way the championship management series never could do to football.
Again, its the sort of addictive game that can take up most of you time.
This is the sort of game that is a must for any hockey fan, but will have limited appeal outside the sport, and consequently little appeal in this country.
Yes, it is a great game, but the match engine needs sharpening up, and isnt really compatible with line changes and the like, although the shot charts make up for this, and there are plenty of other options you can use to view each match.
This game could only ever have a sort of limited cult appeal, so take this advice- if you play champ manager regularly, you would be wasting your money on this game if you weren't prepared to drop one of them. As a result, this game is not for passing hockey fans with a greater football interest, which is a great shame.

well i've avidly played this title on the internet now for a few years... and as both a keen fan of both the Championship manager series and Ice hockey was truly gobsmacked when i heard that this title was being released on a PC format. As can be expected this will be a classic game for all Hockey fans out there, and something that my hockey loving friends both sides of the pond have been screaming out for, for years.
The Game is based around you as the manager of the club. You have to make every day decision in the running of it, transfer negotiation, trades, hiring and firing of coaches and dealings with the press. The inclusion i've heard of a 2d Match engine - similar to that on CM4 gives managers the opportunity to see how long lines are out on the ice for, setup plays for both Powerplay and Penatly kill situations and also generally call a game as it is being played out infront of your very own eyes, at varying match speeds..
I've enjoyed the game on the net and just hope that the creators to it as much justice as they did the CM series. take a trial run on fhockey.com, and trust me fingers crossed this game could be the beginning of something big!!!!

With eager anticipation I ordered this. I was excited as the producers of it had made such a big thing about it on UK Ice Hockey sites. On the positive side it is great to have teams from two of the UK's Senior Leagues on it. It is also great to see that they have the players from the 2003/2004 season featured. However I found it slow to load, the graphics are poor, especially compared to other Hockey games. A "patch" was available for it almost as soon as it came out, it is a shame that the manufacturers hadn't sorted out the gremlins before it was released.
