i bought Blue Note Trip mixed by Maestro some ten years a go and immediately a) loved it for its perfectly mixed tunes b) immediately used it for DJ g purposes as a great warm up cd for some bars i was playing in at the time. styles covered over the 2 cd s are jazz, vocal soul, latin, laidback funk, retro-bossa, nearly all classic retro 60 and 70';s tracks selected by dj maestro with a few choice new remixes and selections such as the lovely languid voice of Norah Jones and a cheeky remix by dj smash of Prince s track kiss, which always raises a smile. the latin quota on these cd s is high , as is the retro-groove factor. no nu-jazz re-interpretations here perhaps a little disappointingly (go the Blue Note Jazzanova versions for that or the excellent nu-jazz artists found on the german Compost label for that.
a superior double cd of 2 hours of soulful yet groovy bar / lounge / retro jazzy tracks that move seamlessly between tracks in a relaxed yet superbly varied mixture of laidback tracks that stick closely to the classic blue note original sound and vibe.
highly recommended. the Jazzanova blue note trip mixes probably beat this release overall but trip is a great ride indeed.

Great compilation from Jazz music's all time #1 label, much of it very Latin influenced. The mix of old and new tracks works very well, so well it's sometimes difficult to tell which is which. Excellent as ambient music, driving music or simply music to chill to and a good introduction to artists we might not usually get to hear. I can only assume that the rest of the series is as good as this one, I'll definitely be getting more of these very soon.

superbly realised, the melody is always there, but the beat is allways there too, without being intrusive, this is a remix by a dj, does anything change when a tune is remixed?
Perhaps some one could clue me up? in general, and this specific case?
from my point of view, i'm 57 but if I still had parties, this would definitely be on the playlist
