5.0 out of 5 stars True to the roots...
I'm a big fan of cult films and this espicialy been a punk for a number of years now. This is a film to thsoe who wanna know what it is to be a punk, what it is to be the outcast and more importantly what it is to be unique and yourself. The actors in this film aren't actors, noo they are real life punks, making the film ever more so realistic. With Greenday...

With Greenday making the film "jesus of Suburbia" it will over shadow this masterpiece. This is the real jesus of suburbia, showing you what it is to be a punk and not some pot smoking sellout, like greenday! This film shows you what it is to be yourself in a world that still refuses to accept people who are different, and a film for punks to broaden minds and a filmfor narrow minded people to open eyes and realise the effects and problems of discrimination and predjudice in todays society.
A top buy and a top film...

this is a great early punk film, acting a bit wooden but ideal for any punk, if you have seen it before you know what i mean, if you have not you have been warned, a group of teenagers hanging out in the suburbs of America, gigging fighting & having fun. the film show the small minded of what sopposed to be adults against these kids because they are different (still a bit like today)
highly recommend this film its a must
the seller i bought the dvd from was the cheapest & thought it would have been already watched, but it was sealed brand new & the delivery was super fast

Evan is tired of his life: broken home, drunken abusive mother and no room to truly breathe. With all this crashing onto him, Evan decides to run away from home and quickly becomes friends with a Punk Crew who call themselves "The Rejected", which he later on involves his much younger brother in. "The Rejected" live in a beat-down abandoned House which they've customised into their own Punker-Squat in L.A.; much to the disgust of the Police (who, in a weird way try to help as they are connected to the group in a certain way) and 2 of the Suburbian power-trip crazies who feel they can bully "outsiders" for the benefit of the community. The Rejected make the 2 boys feel they belong and give them a family-type foundation in their lives, but of course not all is well when the Locals want you out, by any means possible...
This being a "Punk" film really attracted me, as I love 80s punk like Minor Threat, Black Flag, Descendents, The Vandals and all the 80s scene, however I felt that there was a lot of fakery in this paticular Movie. The kids didn't talk with any kind of passion, emotion or even intelligence, and didn't really show them in any positive sort of light except for their warmth towards other Punk-Kids and Runaways. I also thought the Film didn't really go anywhere, and had the potential to be such a better film with the strength of the Plot.
Could've been a lot better. If you want more info on Punk and/or Punk Associated Movies; check out Godmoney, The Edge of Quarrel and American Hardcore.
