I bought this expecting it to be nothing more than functional. I was expecting a short battery life, not very powerful, just enough to decide whether I wanted to push the boat out and buy a professional one.

Having lived with it for a couple of weeks, I really love it and have no need to buy a more expensive one now.

It does exactly what it says in the description (so I won't go into its features any more than to say the battery life is perfectly acceptable, only had to charge it once so far and I'm using it most days, and the power is absolutely fine - a lot more than I was expecting).

The only criticism is the slightly fiddly attachments and display stand it comes with.

If you're anything like me, you'll have one standard attachment you use - so that can just be left on the trimmer; but the stand it comes with is practically unuseable. Yes, I suppose it is possible to spend 2/3 minutes stacking all the bits into the little display stand, but simply picking one of the attachments out will topple over the entire thing.

That said, the easiest remedy is get one of those aftershave/travel bags you invariably get for Christmas, empty it out and use that to carry it in.

Would certainly buy another product from Wahl in the future (especially considering the fiddly display stand issue is so trivial).

First let me say that this trimmer isn't just for those with beards or moustaches. I personally prefer the stubble look and this trimmer does a great job of maintaining it. The trimmer comes with a 6-position attachment guide which clips onto the blade and by sliding the attachment forward or backward lets you set the correct length for your trim. It ranges from position 1, 'stubble length' (2 mm) to position 6, 'long' (12 mm). As I like to keep my facial hair short I've never needed to use this beyond position 1 and it works great. For those looking for that stubble effect, set the attachment to position 1 and shave as you would with a normal razor. Gives you that 2-3 day stubble look. Those looking to style and shape your beard or moustache the trimmer does come with instructions explaining how to do so. Since purchasing this trimmer I haven't needed to use my razor, which is great because let's face it, shaving can be a hassle - shave clean, wait for the stubble to grow, shave again and then find you've nicked yourself and need to buy yet more razor blades. With this trimmer you can keep a stubble or bearded look all the time, and with the plastic attachment guard on the end of the blade it's damn-near impossible to cut yourself.

The trimmer runs cordless and comes with a charger, so when the battery starts to die just plug in the charger. You can also use the trimmer anytime when it's plugged into the charger if you need to use it when the battery is low. Noise wise it's hardly deafening, about as loud as you'd expect a trimmer/shaver to be. The trimmer also comes with 3 moustache combs, a beard comb, cleaning oil and a stand. As mentioned earlier I haven't needed to use the moustache combs so can't vouch for their effectiveness.

Construction wise, don't expect a diamond series Remington here. The trimmer itself and the attachments are all made of rather cheap plastic and the attachments in particular seem a bit flimsy, if you accidentally step on them they'd probably break. It's also a little annoying that the trimmer doesn't come with a pouch or anything to store the attachments and combs, I personally just keep them in the stand (also made of plastic). But at little over £10 what more can you expect really, it's hardly breaking the bank and it gets the job done.

Definitely worth the dosh - it's not built of the same quality as a Remington, but at a tenth of the price you can hardly complain. Great little product, highly recommended.

I get ingrowing hair if I use a shaver or a razor because they cut too close. I needed a trimmer that can cut close, but not as close as a shaver. I use this trimmer and remove all the guards and this gives me the perfect cut without being too close as to give me problems with ingrowing hairs.
I must have used it about 20 times so far and that's still on the initial charge. There's not much else to it really. The comb attachments look like they are well made and fit well.
Highly recommended.

Excellent quality trimmer as can be expected from Wahl. I use it for all my hair maintenance needs and it has served me well for well over a year. As with all things, make sure you brush the blades off after use each time so it is well maintained. It comes with oil as well so there is no reason for this product to fail!

All the attachments are great, I have even used the largest for trimming my own head hair and it worked flawlessly.

It's always a risk to trim the gentleman's garden but with this it is infinitely easier - turns a sweat-inducing surgical operation into an easy, almost pleasurable experience!

The stand is handy and makes it look great sitting on the shelf below my mirror, and the battery life is amazing!

The Groomsman is very easy and enjoyable to use.

I am pleased that it is so light. It makes a long and detailed shave of any part of the body a strainless task. Other reviewers have commented on the build quality. However, I cannot fault this at all. It doesn't feel cheap. It feels exactly how you would expect for an item of this size.

The stand is a little fiddly, but really this matters not one bit. It is an optional extra to be used only if it suits you.

For maintaining a well trimmed beard at any length, this is the only product I have found which does the job well. It is comfortable on the face and the adjustable cutting length control on the detachable head is a great idea.

Top product.

I use this to trim my beard. Never been a fan of close shaves so tried this trimmer out a few years ago. Every year I replace it with the same make and model. It's cheaper to replace the whole unit than to buy a new blade for it.

I use it once a week and the charge holds out for a couple of months.

Cant fault it for the money

This is a great product and good value.
It's much more substantially built than my last very plastic trimmer which just stopped working and the rechargeable battery lasts much longer.
I only have 2 criticisms - the hard plastic molded cover was very difficult to open (like most are these days!) and the print on the instructions is so tiny it is very difficult to read.
Otherwise very pleased so far.

I bought this as a replacement for my now very old and tired Phillips trimmer after reading some very positive reviews.
The good news is that this Wahl trimmer is very cheap and quite sturdy feeling, considering it's plastic faux chrome casing. The bad news is that it's not a very good trimmer, especially for thick facial hair like mine, and leaves a patchy feeling. Extra time is need to smooth the trim out. The trimmer head itself is fairly small, but not tiny - the fitting attachments are very fiddly to put on as well. Overall if you want a quick, cheap replacement buy this, but i'm going to buy something else soon. As they say, you get what you pay for!

I got this product 2 weeks back. I found it very diffucult to fit the 6 position plastic attachment -it is not at all easy. I prefer to go with the simpler mustache trimming sets rather than the 6 position plastic. Otherwise, it does what it says it will do.I intended to trim my mush only and I am happy with it.
