4.0 out of 5 stars By-the-book RPG, but worth some credit
As well as making top-notch games consoles, it seems Sony also has a knack for slipping some half decent RPG's off its production line.
Twilight of the Spirits allows you to take control of two brothers with a diference. Being an RPG, they are born to a demon father and a human mother. Born into a revolting world, they are subsequently separated moments after birth...

3.0 out of 5 stars Diverting enough, but only if you're a fan of console RPGs
In almost every way 'Arc: Twilight Of The Spirits' is astoundingly adequate without ever being exceptional: the graphics are quite pleasing, the story is reasonable, some of the characters are quite interesting, the combat is definitely not the worst you'll come across, etc. 'Final Fantasy X' set the standard for console RPGs more than two years ago, but 'Arc' falls...

4.0 out of 5 stars Well I loved it:, 2 May 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Arc: Twilight of the Spirits (Video Game)
This is a great game with plenty of different characters and a story which makes the mind think about today and life on earth, and I seldom get into stories in games.
There's plenty of magic and weapon building as in most other games of this type but i liked the way the story swapped between the characters and their parallel lives, Granted there's a lot of "talking" but is all part of the experience (with no fast scroll facility either.)
I was sad to finish it really!

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent enough but nothing stellar, 6 Oct. 2004

In almost every way 'Arc: Twilight Of The Spirits' is perfectly adequate without ever being exceptional: the graphics are quite pleasing, the story is reasonable, some of the characters are quite interesting, the combat is definitely not the worst you'll come across, etc. 'Final Fantasy X' set the standard for console RPGs more than two years ago, but 'Arc' falls short in every respect - it's simply not as beautiful, as well produced, as involving or, indeed, as long.
If you like the console RPG format, 'Arc' will keep you quite entertained for the best part of sixty hours. However, you should note that some of those hours will drag and the dialogue will frequently get on your nerves. Note also, that it is one of the most linear games that I have ever played: you never deviate from the main plot, although the play swaps between two different parties of characters as the story progresses. Finally, the game lacks a lot of the polish that you would expect from a Sony production: the music is frequently substandard and the translation is occasionally downright sloppy. As I said, it's a perfectly adequate game and although I won't replay it, with sixty hours behind me I can't complain about its play value.
If you've not played a console RPG before, don't start with this one: you may well find yourself both bewildered and bored. Give 'Final Fantasy X' a go instead.

3.0 out of 5 stars hey dont nock it till ya tried it, 15 May 2004
This review is from: Arc: Twilight of the Spirits (Video Game)
I've played the demo of this game and i was surprised. Normally i would play a demo for 5 minets and throw it away with hatred but when i tried this game i couldent put it down it was really addicteve. The graphics were great exsept for when you were trying to talk to someone. The music was good a different tune for every place! but thats what you've come to exspect now right? Alough the tunes were a bit babyish sometimes! the battle sequenses were a real letdown though. They were slow and boring but the storyline was ace. So heres my rating.
Graphics 8/10
music 7/10
cpu reaction 4/10
storyline 10/10
battel sequenses 3/10
So all in all a average game.

i have in my time play more then a fair share of rpgs and this one had me quit confused for one i found it way to simple and small(in lack of a better world) and yet i wanted to play more of it one of the first things yo notis is that there isent a world to explor you are gennerally but to a short of grandia light version not only is the world map fillede witd spots for you to go to but most of them are just places to due battle in you dont get a holde lot of depth in the game it self but you will in the story in the story you follow to main charaters one one the human/goody side and one one the deimos/wiked side there is an upstarting war and the two main charters khrag(human) and darc(deimos) gives you there side of the story you then on shifts get to play khrags tema and darcs tema and se how hatred vegenace and betrayel gets both temas steamed up to kill on another for the story alone this game is worth playing and if you are type who wants to go on with the story and battles and not explor then this is the game for you one one side the gameplay aint all that great the positiv about it is that its easy to get in to and start up again after a long pause on the other side the story is good and will get you thinking about seing it from both sides and that there may not be all around heros and hating and fighting donts do either good
