5.0 out of 5 stars PC Game of 2003
Knights of the Old Republic, was an acclaimed success on Xbox, shooting straight to the top of the charts, and with good reason. BioWare seems to have the Midas touch, and the developers have proved themselves able to handle this typically problematic license with their usual class. This is the best Star Wars game ever and the best PC game released in 2003.

3.0 out of 5 stars good when it works
graphics are dated now yet it feels just as good as mass effect 3!
you may have problems running it with windows 8, so try compatibility mode and you also have to disable movies and disable hardware mouse option to make it work.
so apart from sucky dialogue and dated graphics its still as good as any modern RPG game.

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT GAME,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (PC) (Video Game)This game is awesome! I've never known so much about Star Wars geography, now I could virtually become a pilot! Instead of the same old games when you fight as a jedi and save the |Republic or a clone ect, this it's way before those times and you can choose you're path! Lucas arts had never had this all new secret galaxy! There is no actul story line, because it changes with you're path, like for instance you can be a Jedi (the 'same' old thing) or a Dark jedi, and rebel against the Jedi, or be a Nautral Sith and have no intention of treatury! All in all, you will share the same ending, if Jedi you will kill the Dark enemy of the Republic, Darth Malak, or as a Dark Jedi kill Malak for old times sake, and revenge, and if Sith you kill him to become the next Sith ruler! All in all, this game is I think for 402 years before Star Wars Epoisode 1! This is one of my favourite games, 2nd favourite game! Any Star Wars fan should get this game purley because if ya know everything else about the films, this is where the Republic/Empire started, then gradualy became the Sith, and a bit of info for you fans, that is a fact on the game! The Republic started on a remote planet called Dantoine, then the Jedi negotiated to move them to Corrasaunt. When the Republic first started out; it was a mere Resitance at the begining of the Sith Wars, who fought back at the invading Sith, and the Jedi joined them; then a force came from nowhere and started killing both the other forces, and you have to work with one of his kind in the game!

This review is from: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (PC) (Video Game)This game is for people who like to build there own star wars character there strengh dexterity ect. it can be as simple or as complicated as you like it has exp levels and your charater gets harder as you go along there is an auto level up and manual level up as with most things in this game there are lots of advantages and disadvantages of using the manual and auto. your charater can be made automaticly or manually ect. this game is massive and you can do vertually anything in it be a smuggler bounty hunter or a force of good (what ever that is).
if you like not being in first person and controling your characters attacks but not attuly attacking your self this is the game for you.
the interface is a bit difficult to use but after a while you get use to it.
I think this game is very good and emersing but not for thoughs who just like getting in there as a jedi and killing. i would recomend this game to anyone but watch out for the jedi/sith they get on your nevers later.
I have given this game four stars instead of five because its very time consuming and i have been on it since i got it and i still an't finished plus you can not kill random citizans only enemys which is best inclide to good guy players.
the graphics are supperb and its a great game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Star Wars,
This review is from: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (PC) (Video Game)Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic on the X-Box, was in my opinion, a classic game. The graphics were crazily good and the gameplay was smooth. Now it is coming out on P.C. and I can only wonder....Shall I be a jedi or a sith?!
Previous P.C. Star Wars games have been a tad rubbish
( including Star Wars Episode 1 on the P.C.) I was worried when the game was going to come out on the P.C. because i hoped they would not make a stupid game. They didn't.
The game take you through 10 worlds, with sub-quests determing whether you turn into a sith or jedi. There are many different species to be and a wide range of customisable options. THIS IS A GREAT GAME BUY IT NOW!

1.0 out of 5 stars TRY BEFORE YOU BUY,
This review is from: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (PC) (Video Game)I love Star Wars and purchased this game with eager anticipation after my dissapointments with Clone Wars and Jedi Outcast.
Unfortunately, it only took me one hour to get board of what is an otherwise very well presented package.
Sound is awasome, dialogue acting is good, graphics are on a par with most x-box games and well, this is a game, but it TRIES too hard to be an interactive Star Wars movie. A read of the game instructions proved to be confusing and I would assume the take-off and flight training manual for the Millenium Falcon would be easier to understand. The control system and menu selection options were simply too complicated to make this game fun. The "play as you go" help was very usefull to begin with, but all that was happening was that buttons were being pressed and menus were being manipulated so often, that the game just didn't seem to flow. This overly complex control interface also detracted from the main story and by the time progress had been made, I had forgotten what the whole point of the game was.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cool for about a day,

This review is from: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (PC) (Video Game)Im not a star wars fan but im strangely adicated to the games as ive bough sw galaxies - 10 pound subcribe
this game is realy good with the dakr - light jedi but doesnt realy Do any thiiiing execpt ur skin colour - dark = pale white
thats a nice touch and every thing but it ends up all the same in the end the role playing system is pretty good ive found about 3 ways to complete change the game but it all ends up the same pretty much the graphics are good but the surrounds such as moutains big buildings so on so on are like painted in like the old films off westerns that put me down but u cant realy notice that when youve got ur eye on ur person .
The char creater is a bit bad in the way you just change ur face about 10 faces to choose from and u can change ur genger - male-female that doesnt change any thing again.
The thing that did it for me about this game is the JEDI bit when i found out i was gonna be a jedi my heart was beating for hours with proudnes of my self but dont think its a wepon of doom it cant slice people in half :( pitty
The thing that made me feel bad was the story line not that its bad its all nice and basic buttttt when u find out the main bit of the game i wont tell ya of course , cause it will ruin it all . but it makes the whole light side look bad i mean real real bad i cant describe it realy but it ruined it for me.
i think the best bit of the whole game is the light sabour cause u can change its colour to , blue , red , orange purple green thats pretty cool .
1 more thing that was pretty bad of the game is the lengh if you know all the buttons and know how to play the game u can probly win this game in about 1 - 2 days ive restart this game 5 times now cause i made a mistake on my char with wepons and all the 5 times ive restarted ive nearly won it in 3 days but ive played on it non - stop since ive got im meaning 8pm to 5am in the morning and stuff , i know its sad but so
i rate this game 9 / 10 but the story line that ruined it for me nocked it down to a 7 / 10 if the story was better it would be a 10/10
thats all for this game
thanks for reading and stuff cheers cya hope this helped probly not but think i care ?

1.0 out of 5 stars I wasted my money.......,
This review is from: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (PC) (Video Game)I bought this game thinking it was a game like Jedi Knight:Jedi Acadamy, or Jedi Outcast. I was wrong.
This game is not simply building a light sabre, going into a bunch of over dressed Sith, and chopping limbs off before making a witty remark.
This game uses team fighting as a way of combat. Putting it simply, as soon as you see an enemy, the game pauses and asks you what you want to do to them. Then the game unpauses and you team/character goes off and hits them or shoots them. You cant even control them while they attack. No further action is required from you. This is rubish and no amount of great graphics can replace that. Besides if you even want to see those graphics you need a top notch PC game to run it.
If I were you, save your money and buy Jedi Acadamy. This not only has a great single player game but also a great multiplayer as well.

2.0 out of 5 stars The Only Game I Can Say I Own and Dislike For Good Reasons,
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (PC) (Video Game)I've played Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic II: Sith Lords twice, all the way through to the end, both time clamering for something which wasn't there, deluding myself that this game was the one raved about by friends in the form of the original KotOR. I never played the first installment, but being a fan of Star Wars I knew I'd get in on the action when the second came around. And so I did. And now I sit here, two full games into playing it and I can honestly say I'm rather dissapointed with it all.
Where to start? Well I'll keep it as brief and simple as I can.
The game boasts some key features, such as being set in Star Wars a long time prior to the movies. An influence system allowing you to mould your party to your alleigance to good or evil. An immersive story line, the ability to be a Jedi Knight and teach others in the ways of the force and the fact that it's a Star Wars RPG.
First of all, the setting certainly doesn't feel like the Star Wars universe ancient past in anyway other than the events... everything else is pretty much here how it is in the movies. Second, the game isn't long enough to properly implement the influence system to be useful to your party characters, nor is it long enough to train others in the way of the force. Thirdly, the immersive storyline ends extremely abruptly and despite the whole game being so linearly driven towards the climax. Really it feels like you have very little influence over the "game". The "RPG" elements aren't all that impressive or useful as you can overcome almost all tasks by either hacking and slashing or choosing the right words in a conversation. Not that the game really cares what you do, as the end of the game is evident of.
So, to recap, a game in a story driven genre (RPG's) has a bad story with a confusing ending and beginning, completely unable and unwilling to explain itself. We aren't talking the Matrix sequels here. We're talking, literally unfinished and unpolished due to the game being rushed as a release and being made by a totally different company to the first.
Don't get me wrong, it's not like I never enjoyed myself... actually come to think of it, I can't put my finger on any unique stand-out moment in the game where I was wowed. Which is saying something, as almost all games I've ever played (through to the end) I can pin-point a defining moment when the game was either brilliant entertainment or just plain fun, often it's the ending, sometimes it's an encounter such as a fight or cut-scene. In this one however, the only moment I can pin-point with any great emotion, is the ending, and the feeling was dissapointment and confusion.
Basically, the game doesn't feel rewarding enough to have played all the way through, it's not worth your time to do everything and leaves you feeling empty and slightly bitter even about it. Do yourself a favour, play a game with a good story and good game mechanics. This game really has neither one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sorry lvl 1 zealot fan-boys, your baby is ugly. This game is bad.,
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (PC) (Video Game)We were promised a lot about this game, a whole lot. What we got was hard to swallow. I can find numerous examples of the devs saying things that simply were not true.
Everything is instanced, there's no open or free world whatsoever. You are walled into a specific path. Everything is such a themepark. The stories are lame, everything looks airbrushed and plastic. I feel ripped off by all the promises of freedom and exploration. Yeah, you can explore, if by that you mean running in one direction.
The combat is just like WoW, exactly like it. In fact, its a complete ripoff with no innovation.
Yeah, I was really looking forward to it too, but I'm not deluded enough to think that an endless chain of "kill monster X and get datapad Y" is fun in any way. Not to mention the space combat, it is Starfox n64 all over again.
The vision and saga of Star Wars is awesome, it deserves better than this ridiculous money grab by Bioware and EA.
