This is another UFO release with the classic and near classic line ups (ie including Michael Schenker). For most UFO fans any new release (Schenker or Chapman) is eagerly awaited and the first two discs 'Live in Vienna' do not disappoint. The sound quality is good as is the performance, and even though the set is identical to the 'Werewolves of London' (+ Shoot Shoot) it is a must have addition to any serious UFO collection. The other discs Cleveland'77 and Cincinatti'95 are both good performances but suffer from poor sound quality, a disappointment after the great sounding Vienna discs.

Why is this album so low down the Amazon charts?
It can only be that, like me, many people do not know of its existence.
It is a superb double set from the masters of guitar-orientated ballad rock.
Moggsie has lost none of the edge and Michael Schenker's guitar is still an instrument of sheer beauty.
The mixture of old favourites, new tracks and rarely heard live gems is quite superb.
The CDs perfectly encapsulate the live UFO sound (always much better, in my opinion, than their studio efforts). You almost feel that you are in that small but lively venue with them.
If you are new to UFO, I heartily recommend this album.
If you are thinking of updating your 'Strangers in the Night', don't! Keep the vinyl and buy this CD. You won't be disappointed.

The first three discs are excellent, the sound quality fades out in places but I don't mind that. Phil Mogg's voice is up to its normal high standard, so is Michael Schenker's guitar playing. Pete Way is Pete way, Paul Raymond's guitar sounds good and Simon wright's (ex ACDC) drumming is good. in fact UFO run through the UFO classics with ease. the first three discs work very well.
If I was reviewing only the first three discs then this would be a 5 star review. But why the Fourth disc? was it an after thought? The fourth disc's sounds flat and hollow, the best sound quality you get is the audience clapping and cheering.
Phil Moggs voice fades in and out in nfact all the band members fade in and out. the Fourth disc Just is not good enough for a UFO release. (Owner of twenty eight UFO releases)

Reviewers seem to be confusing this 2-disc set from Vienna with the 4-disc box set. This copy of the Vienna concert is good value and essentially the best part of the 4-disc version (in effect another copy of the 'Werewolves of London' set). Two thirds of the stuff here is just "Strangers" revamped, notable additions being the "Walk on Water" tracks which are performed really well live. Even though the performance is fraught with mistakes the sound quality is good and encapsulates a lot more raw power than "Strangers".

This is a nice addition to any UFO collection but I still prefer "Strangers in the Night" for it's perfection or the "BBC Sessions/Live In Concert" from earlier in their career.

Yet another live performance from the near classic line up and one for the collectors only. Everyone knows from the "Strangers In The Night" album that UFO put on a great live performance but the repetition is starting to get boring. Do we need to keep hearing the same old classics re-hashed several times over on one collection? With such a vast catalogue of songs this compilation perhaps missed the chance to show off to the full and produce a live career defining review (as Rush always seem to manage to do quite well with their live stuff). Instead we have a four disc set, the first two discs of the Vienna concert being fresh and very good, the other two from Cincinnati and Cleveland being Bootleg quality, terrible sound and not very listenable. I find myself buying these for the unusual tracks like the live version of "Gettin'' Ready" and dispensing with the umpteenth versions of "Doctor Doctor" or "Rockbottom". An expensive hobby!

The "Walk on Water" songs sound best on the first two discs 'Live in Vienna'. Although the performance is fraught with mistakes the sound quality is good and encapsulates a lot more raw power than "Strangers" (even if it is in effect another copy of the 'Werewolves of London' set).

Reviewers seem to be confusing the 4 disc set with the 2 disc set. I also own the two disc copy (Vienna only) which is better value and worth considering if you don't want everything they ever recorded. I play the 2 disc version in the car while I keep the 4 disc set under wraps as a keepsake. This is a nice addition to any UFO collection but I still prefer "Strangers in the Night" for it's perfection.
