Excellent model, intricate and a good project. I have now started to build the model and would advise anyone considering this to read through all the instructions very carefully so that you know what lies ahead. There is a long metal rod that fits inside the first long structure. It is essential to make sure that this fits through the required holes in the centre of the frame structure as trying to force it through tight areas can lead to damage. The long structure in question is shown in both photographs. I found it essential to take my time over the building to date. I was a little disappointed with the way the parts were finished as there were lots of odd bits of plastic still on some of the parts and where they were fixed to the main sprigs, in a lot of cases, the area that you cut was on a patterned section and filing took away the pattern. One other point was the colour where it was due to be mixed. The Solar panels were supposed to be 90% blue and 10% silver which left a dark blue unrealistic finish. I found that a 50/50 mix gave a more realistic effect. But overall this is turning out to be a very intricate and worthwhile project.

Regarding the above review from Ireland. I have never found any problem with obtaining spare parts from Revell. The only reason I have ever needed spare parts is because I can be rather Kak handed and not because parts are broken on arrival. Last year I bought a Saturn V model (not via Amazon) and wrongly glued a couple of pieces, I wrote to the English address given in the instructions. After a week or so I heard from them. I was told that they were sorry not to have replied sooner, only they had changed address,(my letter had been forwarded) and that if I marked the enclosed diagram with the parts that I needed they would forward the letter and diagrams to the company in Germany. This would take approximately four weeks. I telephoned the English number and spoke to a very helpful woman who said there would be no charge for the spare parts. In due course the parts arrived and all was well, they didn't even charge for postage. Today I have received my ISS from Amazon. It is complete and not broken. I have however checked the address in the ISS instructions and note that it is the same as the address I wrote to in the first instance regarding the Saturn V so it would appear that the German company have not updated the change of address, or the model ISS was dispatched to England before the change. In any event I wouldn't let the reveiw from our Irish friend put you off buying this product or indeed any other product from Revell as the after sales service I have experienced has been exemplary. It would seem to me that the quality of the plastic has improved considerably over the years and the parts of the ISS that I have just received come in three colours, silver gray, white and blue. I have had forty years of model making and am pleased that Revell never seem to miss a chance at updating and improving their products. It may be that our Irish friend wrote to the wrong address (as did I)and that the
forwarding instructions had date expired? In any case, the proper address can easily be obtained on line or from any model shop selling Revell products. Hope this helps, as ever, Jack. Here is the address. Revell GmbH & Co.KG. Orchard Mews. 18 High Street. Tring. Herts. HP23 5AH. Tel 01442 890285. Fax 01442 827919. e-mail; ukbranch@revell.de Office Administration Manager, Annette Mortimer who is extremely helpful. Hope this helps.

I don't know how accurate this model is as it appears to have been designed before the thing was finished. There is a samll model of the shuttle but it's different to the actual thing.

All schools should try to obtain this model as it gives the viewer a clear picture of what has been achieved with space exploration. The model its self is very fragile and not easy to transport but the time spent building is well worth it.
