5.0 out of 5 stars Sebastien Devaud Lyon based French producer AKA Agoria, 18 Nov. 2003
This review is from: Blossom (Audio CD)
Here we have the debut album from French producer Sebastien Devaud. But don’t go presuming this dude’s all about polite disco infusions. Not at all. ‘Blossom’ is arguably one of the most diverse debuts you’re likely to hear in a while. ‘Preseque Un Ange’ for example is gritty electronica with Far Eastern undertones, whilst ‘Organic’ is heady, nosebleed techno. ‘Worth It’ meanwhile is a subdued, reflective dancefloor anthem, whilst ‘Kofea’ is a housier Radioactive Man, and ‘2thousand3’– featuring Tricky – is a cinematic slice of rising tension propelled by dancehall meets electro style beats. Sort of. No wonder his debut EP for PIAS – ‘La 11eme Marche’ was picked up by DJ Hell, Andrew Weatherall, Laurent Garnier, John Peel and more. It’s pretty damned accessible too.
