Can be used as replacement for the Sony VCT-R640 Standard Tripod. A lucky find as Sony doesn't sell replacement release plates. The top surface has a good non-slip feel. The screw at the bottom has a flip extension to aid un/fastening.

This is my second purchase of the same product from the same company. The service is as good as the last time. Prompt delivery.
I would recommend the supplier. The product does what I need; I bought it as a replacement base for the original base I lost for the VCT-D680RM Sony tripod. Sony does not supply replacement base mounts for its tripod. This Hama brand camera/camcorder base mount works with the Sony tripod I have. The Sony tripod is an expensive one; it would have been a shame not being able to use it just because a cheap base mount is lost. Now I use the second purchase of the base mount for my digital camera. This saves time as there is no need to unscrew and remount the base piece from the camcorder to the camera; each one has its own base mount now.

I've recently found that there is more my camera (Nikon D50 DSLR) can do than just take photos on the automatic setting.

Accordingly, I bought the Hama 63 Tripod which comes with one quick release plate. However, I also recently bought a pair of 10x50 binoculars with an L-shaped tripod mount.

Rather than having to keep changing the original plate between the camera and binoculars, increasing the risk of fumbling one or other item, I bought a second Hama quick release tripod plate.

No need for a long and drawn out review. It's quite simple - It does the job!

I bought this to replace my original which went missing and sod's law dictated that as soon as I bought another item the original would turn up.
Lo and behold, within 24 hours, the original mysteriously appeared.
However, the price of this item is so good, I had no hesitation when I looked at buying it. Was it worth spending all day looking for my original plate when this one was so competatively priced?
So now I have a spare - which I am keeping zipped in a pocket in my camcorder bag so I will always have it to hand.

This Hama quick release plate was just the thing I needed to replace the one that came with my tripod but disappeared when my camcorder got stolen (I always leave the quick release plate attached as it then only takes seconds to get the camcorder on to the tripod)..
I'm so glad that I didn't have to buy a new tripod!

Its one of those wee items that you remove from your camera to switch over to a different tripod and pop it in a 'safe place' which of course you cannot remember where that is.

Now there's a product for some clever bod new improved 'safe place'

You get what you pay for, and this is certainly a bargain item, but I've used it for both stills and panning motion shots, and it's perfectly reliable. Very happy. Supports 1.5kg of DSLR and f2.8 200mm zoom without complaint.

I bought this in case the tripod that i ordered did not come with one. The fact it did didn't bother me as i now have a spare. Very easy to use so would reccomend it but its not essential.

I recently purchased a new wildlife scope and needed a reasonable tripod to accompany it. Amazon invited me to purchase those two items along with this as a package of 3. I assumed (NEVER assume!!) that guidance was being given that I needed this as it wasn't included. OK it didn't 'break the bank' but when all 3 items arrived I realised this is NOT needed as there is one already attached to the tripod. OK you experienced photographers, have a laugh at my expense!! Anyway I guess they (auto) suggest this is you can then mount your bins or camera without unscrewing this from the scope?? Not needed as an additional item....

Works well as a spare plate for Vista tripods.
The only minus is though it is made from a hard plastic it isn't as sturdy as the metal plates you can get.
