I bought this set of 5 DVDs expecting them to be cinema films.
Only one is: "At War With the Army". The others in the set include seven programmes from the series "Colgate Comedy Hour" and trailers from the films I hoped that the collection would include.
While all the material is as funny as I remembered the pair to be, both sound and visual quality of the DVDs is poor. At times it is difficult to hear what is being said.
If you are a genuine Martin and Lewis fan, the material is interesting.

Never mind the so-so movie 'At War with the Army'. The gems in this set are the TV episodes of the Colgate Comedy Hour. These shows provide the best idea of just how wildly funny Martin and Lewis were in their nightclub heyday. This collection includes Jerry's hilarious lip-synch act (to the operatic 'Be My Love') - twice, in fact, since it is repeated in a "best of" show, possibly the most consistently funny hour of Martin and Lewis ever broadcast.

I think this set is the best place to start if you want to see Martin and Lewis make you laugh. There are also a second and third volume available in the US, though I notice they have received poor reviews - one suggests that all of Dean Martin's songs have been cut from the shows. That's certainly not the case here - all the shows are complete and intact, including the sometimes bizarre "word from our sponsor" segments.

You can't call yourself a Jerry Lewis fan if you haven't seen these shows.

While sound and picture do let it down alittle {but what can u expect... its old stuff} it's still as funny as ever... I loved all the skit's, Im pretty new to Martin & Lewis {im young} and this was a perfect way to start... Im now hooked, very slapstick comedy, and makes me laugh like im a kid again, u can see where alot of comic's get their act from!

funny funny stuff

Very disappointing. I was so looking forward to reliving my childhood memories of Lewis and Martin at their best but sadly this was not to be the case. This is not a selection of their films but episodes of the Colgate Show which I felt was a little cheesy (for us Brits anyway!). The quality was lacking which made the viewing hard work. Sorry folks but one to be missed I think - keep your eyes out for the films if you want a great Lewis and Martin experience.

Jerry and Dean in their early years may be black and white but will have you laughing for hours well worth every penny.
