5.0 out of 5 stars The simplest way to fresh coffee
We got one of these as a wedding present and I just love it. The design is unusual and it's so simple to use.
The most attractive thing about this is how easy it is to clean. It's far more straightforward than dismantling and scrubbing my old cafetiere - so much so that I'll use it to make fresh coffee on mornings where I don't have that much time to spare, just...

2.0 out of 5 stars Looks do not a cup of coffee make
Very few advantages to brewing coffee like this:
- it looks nice.
- it's a little warmer when it hits the cup.

Unfortunately:
It is actually a little harder to get the grounds out of the flask - lot's of rinsing. You pay plenty for it. The filter is rather delicate and easily deformed when cleaning. Seeing as your mostly paying for the looks...

5.0 out of 5 stars The simplest way to fresh coffee, 25 April 2005

The most attractive thing about this is how easy it is to clean. It's far more straightforward than dismantling and scrubbing my old cafetiere - so much so that I'll use it to make fresh coffee on mornings where I don't have that much time to spare, just because it cleans up so quickly. That, and the sleeve that fits over the glass jug keeps the coffee warm for longer, meaning I can leave coffee - and cleaning - to himself when he wakes up... ;-)

Very few advantages to brewing coffee like this:

- it's a little warmer when it hits the cup.

Unfortunately:
It is actually a little harder to get the grounds out of the flask - lot's of rinsing. You pay plenty for it. The filter is rather delicate and easily deformed when cleaning. Seeing as your mostly paying for the looks this is disappointing as it certainly takes the look off the vase. Because the water stays warmer, and the grounds float about in the flask the coffee starts to become bitter rather quickly.

I particularly liked the look of this item and so paid the premium. However, I really wanted to like it in use and frankly it fails to deliver.
Bummer!

5.0 out of 5 stars Never have coffee looked this good, 18 Dec 2003
This review is from: Eva Solo - Cafe Solo Coffee Maker (Kitchen & Home)
This is a true marvel of simplicity! Eva Solo have brilliantly designed a quick and easy way to make really good coffee. In the time it takes to make a cup of tea you can make a full pot, or in this case a carafe, of fresh and aromatic coffee. And as a bonus for busy people it takes no time to clean. You can even put it in the dishwasher if you don't have time for 2 minutes of hand washing. If this doesn't convince you take a look at it. It gives style to coffee that no espresso machine can ever match. Scandinavian design at it's best!

5.0 out of 5 stars Full of beans and strangely sexy, 19 Sep 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This has to be the easiest way of making coffee; grind your favourite coffee beans, add to the jug, pour on hot water, jiggle it around with the spoon provided, add the filter, seal it with the lid. Wait 4 minutes. Job done. Lovely coffee that keeps hot for ages and surprisingly this size provides two generous mugs of coffee.

Easy to wash: remove lid and filter, rinse under tap, wash jug and drain.

Lovely coffee, easily prepared and beautifully presented in its stylish black thermal jacket which reminds me of James Bond in a zip-up ski sweater! Strangely sexy ...............

5.0 out of 5 stars Even better than it looks, 22 Oct 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Eva Solo - Cafe Solo Coffee Maker (Kitchen & Home)
The design is simple and attractive. It's easy to use and easy to clean. Best of all, it keeps the coffee hot, and for much longer than you would expect. As a result, my coffee addiction is in danger of spinning out of control!

Ok product but found it to be a bit style over substance.
Not really any better than a normal cafeteria

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic re-invention of the coffee press!, 13 Mar 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Quite often modern designers create a solution where no problem really exists.

However, in this case, whilst the issues with the more traditional Bodum style coffee press were not that irritating, it is only upon purchasing this Eva Solo that we realised how redundant the conventional ones were.

This is actually the second Eva Solo Cafesolo I have purchased, with the first being a gift. A quick round up:

- Incredibly simple to use.
- The coffee stays warm for up to 45 minutes.
- Easy to wash out unless you leave it with wet coffee grinds in it for a couple weeks...
- The lid/filter system can be dismantled for cleaning.
- The unusual but pleasant design seems to be a talking point.

Not ideal if you only have espresso grade coffee grinds lying around... those tend to get through the metal mesh and into your mug.
