1.0 out of 5 stars What on earth??!, 10 Nov. 2003
This review is from: Elvis - The Journey (DVD + CD) (DVD)
This is nicely packaged, you open up and get a DVD, audio CD and a booklet and you think "great". Well actually no. This is so bad, words almost fail me, but not quite.
Most of the DVD is taken up by stuff which is on the Elvis the Missing Years DVD and the commentry is awful - like the commentator is running to catch a train. The picture quality is terrible. The music is rubbish covers by others. It's described as an in depth look - it's no such thing; rare unseen footage - by who, a blind man?
The audio CD does have some not bad interviews but nothing that is not available elsewhere with better sound. They aren't listed or individual - just one long ramble. The booklet is just a rehash of stuff in other books - nothing new.
This is just a rip off. If I could give it no stars, I would. Save your money for something with more depth and substance.

1.0 out of 5 stars TACKY, BEWARE, 17 May 2003
This review is from: Elvis - The Journey (DVD + CD) (DVD)
The packageing is very nice, and the audio cd had some rare interviews which are nice for any fan to have, the annoying thing with the audio cd was it was long but went under one track. Its a shame the interviews weren't listed or numbered.
The film which lasted 60mins was terrible. Most of which was of a narrator racing through El life, it sounded as though he was in a rush reading it, his voice was boring and flat he himself sounded bored. You won't find anything in this film even a novice would know. The contents of the EL clips were from "Elvis 56" and "Private Elvis the missing years".
The pictures didn't coinside with the years and other artists were covering Elvis' songs.
This is definatley not for any fan, only for those who want a speedy flash of Elvis' life. SORRY THIS IS CHEAP AND TACKY.

1.0 out of 5 stars Baby, Lets Rip The Fans Off !, 6 Feb. 2008
This review is from: Elvis - The Journey (DVD + CD) (DVD)
WARNING: Please do not be fooled into buying this mess of a product. The packaging is enticingly attractive but you will not be able to watch it more than once. And watching it once is once too many.

This is pure extortion. Rarely have I felt so cheated and so disappointed over a blind purchase. Elvis is worthy of the highest respect and should never be presented so cheaply as is done on this . The content is not even worth reviewing and is covered very well by others on this page anyway.

DO NOT BUY. If you're new to the Elvis world save your money for other dvd productions such as ELVIS LIVES, ELVIS- THAT'S THE WAY IT IS, ELVIS ON TOUR, or '68 COMEBACK SPECIAL, or try his first six movies - LOVE ME TENDER, LOVING YOU, JAILHOUSE ROCK, KING CREOLE, GI BLUES, BLUE HAWAII.

Zero Stars. There, I feel much better now.
