I have been a big fan of the series since 1999 when I was introduced to Resident Evil 2 on the PlayStation. I was immediately hooked. So naturally, when I heard of a remake for the GameCube, I was a little excited (having loved the Resident Evil 1 remake). But then I found out it would be an almost straight port.
Because the game has graphics like the N64 version, it feels a lot like the N64 version. And how annoying that is (I already own the N64 version)! If you already have the N64 version (or indeed any other version) -- stop reading now. You don't need this game.
Gameplay 6/10:
Any one who's ever played any of the Resident Evil games know the controls are pretty annoying. Same here.
Story 8/10:
The best story of the series and although a little far fetched in places, it will keep you interested.
Audio/Video 4/10:
Below average -- they've only been enhanced a little (barely noticeable). Very disappointing.
Replayability 8/10:
Actually quite good.
Like I said earlier, if you have a version of this game already don't bother. There's simply nothing more here. If you missed it first time round and can get over the slightly dated features, go for it.

There is denying that there was great anticipation for this latsest instalment of resident evil but it has not delivered. it is simple an upgraded ps one game with little difference. there are no breath take like in resident evil. this game is not a must buy. in fact only the die hard fans will want this one.

Short but insightful verdict on Resident Evil 2.
Visuals: Absolutely mind-blowing in 1998... but times have moved on!!
-5.4.10
Audio: Still holds up to this day, still creepy, atmoshperic and impressive.
-7.8/10
Gameplay: A litte tough at first, but the pacing is perfect.
-7.1/10
Lifespan: As usual with Resident Evil , there are quite a few extras to earn after completion.
-7.2/10
Originality: Well it's 4 years old now! but it still has some R.E magic in there.
-7.0/10
OVERALL SCORE AND THOUGHTS:
-6.9/10_(69%)
I really do love this game...but you could get for under £10 on the PS1! I couldn't say it was money well spent!

This is one hell of a blood curdling game. If you have played the Resident Evil Seris before you will know how GREAT they are and this one is no exception!!!!! If you like being scared out of your wits this is the game for you. I would recommend this game to anyone.

Out of the resident evil games on gamecube and on any console, I got to say that this is the best one there is! I had this on PS1, it was utter rubbish, I had it on N64, it was amazing, and now on gamecube, it just simply stunning, graphics are brilliant, puzzles are great and clever, the gameplay is good and the enemies are top notch! Very good game!! Get it! Then get RESIDENT EVIL 4!!!

ok, i have seen some comments people are leaving for this game about the graphics, saying its ps1 graphics... this game was originally released on the ps1 before gamecube, so the company just changed the game from ps1 to gamecube without changing the graphics, if you got a ps1, buy this game, dont buy a gamecube to buy it... my bro said: gamecubes were made for resident evil games, that means they have better graphics, they dont, same graphics. so, dont buy gamecube just to get these games if your a fan, they cost more money because of the 2 discs and the bigger case.. buy all of them on the ps1, go to [...] and u can download the gamecube cases, so, it will be like u bought them on gamecube but only 1 disk, and cheaper. well cheaper

After playing the remake of the original resident evil and the brillant and underrated resident evil zero it is quite sad that how bored i am getting of resident evil. It isn't just how it looks either it is the simple fact that this game is so similiar to the others, the story is weak, and reminds me somewhat of a bmovie film horror. But the gameplay lacks it is exactly the same as the other resi's games i have played, i am becoming bored of this genre and running around find a key go back pick up some bullets shoot some zombies, it becomes repeative and when you complete the game there is no replay value shame, I was disappointed with this.
But to complete the resident Evil series and to know more on the story it has to be looked into.
