this is an open call to anyone else that bought this dvd,
the print it was taken from is sharp and clear,a beautiful print,......
but for some reason any scenes that have fast motion seem to be "jerky" as far as speed sync, the movie is great, the soundtrack is great, but the video speed seems abnormal in fast motion scenes,... i have this movie on tape and do not see the speed sync problem,.....is it my dvd player?....or has anyone else noticed this problem?...my dvd player plays all other pal format discs without this problem,...please let me know if you have noticed the same problem, thank you.

THE SPIDER (also known as EARTH VS. THE SPIDER, 1958, directed by Bert. I. Gordon) is one of the better "big bug" movies of the 1950s. Teenagers Mike and Carol (not Brady, alas) wander into a cave looking for Carol's missing dad, and discover a tarantula the size of a pickup truck. Or the size of a 3-story building, depending on which particular scene you're watching. In any case, the critter is pumped full of DDT and put on display at the local high school, where a rock ‘n' roll band wakes it up to smash through the gymnasium wall and rampage around town. Eventually, the townspeople lure the 8-legged freak back to its den and blow up the only entrance, unknowingly trapping the pesky Carol and Mike inside, necessitating one last rescue. Clocking in at a brisk 73 minutes, THE SPIDER still seems about 10 minutes too long. Still, it's good fun, and the disc looks terrific, the best of all the transfers so far in the Arkoff collection. Includes an audio interview with Arkoff and nine theatrical trailers.

...As a fan of old classic films i was looking forward to this and it did not dissapoint..yes the acting is not great and the chracters are as believeable as the poor special effects but..but this film kept me entertained all the way to the end and if i'm honest i'd rather watch something like this than what hollywood make today..the sound and picture quality are not too bad but more or less what you would expect for this type of film.

The SPIDER was made in the 50s for AIP by b movie king BERT I GORDON who made a lot of these giant creature movies about that time,So what of the movie well we have teens who are still at school but look as though they are in there late 30s we also have the small desert town and a stupid town sheriff yes if this sounds like you have seen it before you have in UNIVERSAL classic b movie TARANTULA which is a lot better movie. So about the disc you get a nice sharp picture and good sound for a movie of this age you also get loads of trailers of movies from the ARKOFF LIBRARY also some nice postcards of movie posters.SO if you enjoy these b/w b movies from the 50s as i do this is a very nice disc.Oh i forgot to say the case has a nice poster of The movie on the front and its called EARTH V THE SPIDER the theatrically title of the movie
