4.0 out of 5 stars 1975 Entry In The Much Loved Series
A group of imminent archaelogists led by the stuffy Professor Roland Crump (Kenneth Williams) and the more liberated and fun Professor Anna Vooshka (Elke Sommer) are in serach of an old Roman town that is thought to be lying underneath a holiday caravan park.

It's the height of the summer season and a group of holiday makers arrive on the dingey-looking caravan...

3.0 out of 5 stars the gang are getting old
by 1975,alot of the carry on greats had decided to call it a day,few remained and with leading scriptwriter talbot rothwell jumping ship, the signs were a little doom laden to say the least,in some respects that fear is confirmed with carry on behind,in other respects the film has some great moments and deserves to be regarded as a carry on film with respect to quality,in...

5.0 out of 5 stars My favourite ever Carry On!, 18 Dec. 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Carry On Behind [DVD] [1975] (DVD)
Carry On Behind is usually overlooked in favour of the evergreen Carry On Camping, but I really think this is one of the best entries in the long-running series. It's very, very funny and Kenneth Connor (as the randy Major) and Peter Butterworth (as a crafty handyman) are two of the best comic creations of 1970s cinema. Forget about the rest - this is the best!

2.0 out of 5 stars The Best Of The Rest, 30 April 2006

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Carry On Behind [DVD] [1975] (DVD)
The standard of the Carry On movies dropped considerably when Talbot Rothwell called it a day with the scriptwriting duties. The mantle was passed onto Dave Freeman who was always more 'Confessions' than 'Carry On',a fact reflected in the paucity of the last four Carry On offerings. This is the best of those four though it must be said that 'England, Emmanuelle and Columbus' were dire. Sex comedies, albeit with very little sex. Though this film is very much a poor mans Carry On Camping, it conveys an aura of innocence long since lost in this era of sophisticated posturing comedy, and lets all be grateful for that. The Carry On regulars all go through the motions, the new additions prove they are no match for the old familiars and in Windsor Davies & Jack Douglas we have the most unconvincing studs since Stan and Jack in 'On The Buses'. But that, of course, is its charm and together with a great comic performance from Elke Sommer, makes this entertaining viewing for those of us who sometimes yearn for the innocence of a time long since past.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crumpet at its best, 20 Sept. 2008
This review is from: Carry On Behind [DVD] [1975] (DVD)
Cracking stuff. Just watched the film, thought it was great. All the cast are on top form. Full of fun from start to finish. Kenneth Connor playing a role that suits him perfectly, being at his very best as the Major who runs the caravan site. Kenneth Williams as Crump and his female Russian(i believe thats what she is) assistant made me burst out laughing everytime i saw them together. Very cheeky in parts, but the later carry ons always were. This one is better than 'camping'. I am a big fan of 'camping' but felt it became weak in the last 20-30 minutes of the film. 'Behind' is great from start to end.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Hidden Gem of The Carry Ons ...., 24 Oct. 2008
This review is from: Carry On Behind [DVD] [1975] (DVD)
This film is often quoted as being an example of the decline of the Carry On series during the later years. Sid James was no longer a part of the series etc. However for me this is up there with the very best. This represents the last we may ever see of Great British Seaside Humour. It's all harmless fun and the cast are fantastic. In todays world filled with souless films lacking real characters and full of violence, this is a nostalgic treat and a great laugh. They don't make em like they used to! Kenneth Connor's seduction scene as the randy Major is one of the funniest scene's you'll see in a Carry On Film. Genius!
