5.0 out of 5 stars a seriously big surprise from koei!, 10 April 2003

when i first wanted to buy this game i was persuaded by a shop sales man that it was awful and that i should buy something else called blackstone, which was so awful i returned it in 3 days. i exchanged it for this and was overwhelmed! its got the best graphics and sfx i have ever seen, in game and fmv. its a mixture of 3 games, first dynasty warriors 3, because your surrounded by thousands of enemies at a time. second: final fantasy franchise, because it has over the top colourful characters and a story line worthy of hollywood. third: phantasy star online, because you can customise weapons and items and walk round in a ship shopping and talking before each mission. all in all, its fantastically fast, compelling and entertaining, with constant action, amazing visuals and the missions have serious variation. you can play thru it again and again unlocking new items each time. and theres 3 difficulty levels to try out as well. buy this game!!! its essential gaming for action rpg fans and its ONLY ON XBOX!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sleeper Hit?, 9 April 2003
This review is from: Crimson Sea (Video Game)
Crimson sea is a hard game to describe as it mixes lots of genres together but does it well for once. It is basically an action shooter with RPG elements. The story is intreguing and the graphics are really good. The amazing thing is the game will throw about 1000 enemies at you at once with no slowdown at all. The game is kept fresh by the fact that one quest will have you killing hordes of enemies and the next you are hunting invisible exploding 'Mutons' with only your vibrating pad and scanner to help you find them, so the game never gets repetitive or boring.
At first the controls may seem terrible with a jerky camera, but once you get used to it the controls make sense. This game is very similar to Phantasy Star Online except Crimson sea is more adrenalin pumped.
This is definately one of those sleeper hits and this game will grow on you(I didn't like it at first).

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Crimson Sea (Video Game)
I first came across this game when i was buying my xbox (second hand) from game and looked into the bargain bin. I waskinda low on money so i went for the first game that looked half decent, with no high hopes. Well i got this home and... WOW!!!

I personally really enjoyed this game, killing all those 100's of mutons, comtamising your own weapon, even the storyline was good. The game didn't take all that long to complete, but i enjoyed every minuite of the game. I would recommend this to anyone as it is a very good game.

A real suprise from Koei
