As a touch typing teacher I am often asked by adults what to recommend to teach kids to touch type and what age is best to start and I always recommend Timon and Pumbaa for kids from when they can read up to adults. It is fun, keeps even young kids attention for quite a long time, it very motivating with the print out certificates and best of all - IT WORKS! It is particularly helpful for children with mild learning difficulties including dyslexia. My own two children were 40 wpm touch typists at a very young age and it has been extremely useful to them at school and now college.

I bought this having read the other reviews on Amazon and expected it to be quite basic. However, it has held my son's attention for at least an hour every day and has even helped me, a long time touch typist, to improve my speed and accuracy. My husband, who does not like computers, is keen to try as is my four year old daughter. The games are very well thought out and help spelling as you have to read a word and spell it on one of the games. I would recommend this to anyone with children of any age.

Having purchased the programme for two pupils with dyslexia,I decided to use it to help me to type with more than the customary two fingers.
The graphics are colourful and engaging, the sound is just enough to keep interest high without being intrusive and the games are extremely good at helping you to practise the newly learned keyswithout boring repetitive exercises.
My only criticism is that there are no written instructions with the programme and it is difficult to go back to a chosen lesson.

I am a grown up who borrowed this item from a British Council library to learn to touch type, and it worked. Fun, easy, fantastic, and far better than Mavis (I tried and failed). I am now back looking to buy it for my seven year old. Very glad to see that it is still available.
Also very good to see that it is compatible with both Mac and PC.

I purchased this as an all rounder for my family so we could all improve our varied typing skills.I'm using it on XP and it was simple to load and use.Through different levels of different games you improve your accuracy and speed. And what improvements it has made! My speed has increased greatly, my husband is now using more than one finger on each hand and my 6 year old isn't as frustrated finding letters as he used to be. Although it seems to be aimed at children, I highly reccommend this for adults who wish to learn faster typing for home computing and cannot fault it for it's attractiveness to children. It greatly improved not only my childs typing but also his spelling and reading.I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly we all picked it up and how much it was very addictive. Well worth buying!

This game is sooo addictive and fun packed and is excellent for all ages. I first played this with my wife 10 years ago when we got the CD free in a packet of Rice Krispies and we were playing it all through the night. The CD eventually deteriorated and had to be discarded , but I have been looking for a replacement ever since, and now I have found it again for my children who I have been telling about this game.(I may let them have a go at some point)

This is a fantastic game to teach touch typing. My little boy used it for 15-20 mins each day and within a very short time was touch typing, by age 6 he was an amazing touch typist, so much so that it was commented on in his school report! (funny - he had not learnt it at school!) Learning to touch type at a young age is such a gift in this technological age!

Just be aware that this is compatible with Windows 95/97/Me/XP but it is NOT compatible with Windows 2000! Don't make the assumption that Windows means Windows. I now have a copy I cannot use.

I could not get this game to work on my tiger mac computer, but it works well on a windows based platform. My girls enjoy playing the games.

Straightforward easy typing without tears for kids, if they like that sort of thing. My six year old really liked this. The idea is for children to learn through play ie learn without knowing they are learning. The best way is to keep it short even if they are enjoying it a lot. Although those days seem long ago, my son still says this is one of his best computer games.
