5.0 out of 5 stars The epitome of the Big Ballad
After nearly four decades in the music business, Tom Jones is still popular due to his incredible voice and of course, a variety of intelligent collaborations with younger artists. This compilation traces his career from the sixties in classic songs like It’s Not Unusual, What’s New Pussycat, the country-tinged Green Green Grass of Home and the melodramatic...

2.0 out of 5 stars Tom Jones - Greatest Hits
I bought this CD but was disappointed with the rather poor quality of the sound when heard through a high specification audio system (the CD may be ok if you are only using it in the car). It appeared to me that in the re-mastering the level of Tom's voice has been reduced and the background percussion has been increased to give the music a more "modern" feel. The effect...

After nearly four decades in the music business, Tom Jones is still popular due to his incredible voice and of course, a variety of intelligent collaborations with younger artists. This compilation traces his career from the sixties in classic songs like It’s Not Unusual, What’s New Pussycat, the country-tinged Green Green Grass of Home and the melodramatic Delilah, through the seventies in hits like She’s A Lady and Daughter Of Darkness, into the eighties with the brilliant Kiss and up to the present with Sex Bomb and the Full Monty Medley. There will always be a place for a big balladeer, and I’d rather have Tom Jones than most of the modern ones. Tom certainly outlived his 60s rival Engelbert Humperdinck! His choice of material has always been great and his voice is perfectly suited to a surprising variety of styles. Besides, there’s the nostalgia factor – I grew up to songs like Help Yourself and She’s A Lady. This wonderful anthology deserves five stars, through and through.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tom Jones Greatest Hits, 1 July 2009

Excellent CD contains the good old oldies and new ones too
Tom Jones fans old and young (and the curious) will enjoy this very much. Tom is a true performer voice as strong as ever. You cannot fail to sing along!

If you can't afford to go, but want to imagine what it must be like to go to an epic scale live show in Las Vegas with a performer who can hold his own and exploit such elaborate extravagance to its full potential (not that I've been either!)... just listen to the legend that is Mr Tom Jones and soak up the atmosphere...

I must admit, I'm not exactly a fan or Tom Jones, but my sister already has this album and when I listened to it I just had to buy it. The man has an awesome voice and every track on this album is totally different. A good one to add to your collection!

2.0 out of 5 stars Tom Jones - Greatest Hits, 30 Dec 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)

The effect I felt doesn't do justice to Tom's voice. I own an old greatest hits tape of Tom Jones on which the sound is much clearer and stronger. I would also like to comment that the CD wasn't sealed and just came in a cardboard packet, so may have been returned previously.

The only reason I bought this was because my original copy was worn out throught constant playing. The consummate collection from one of the great voices of the pop era.

5.0 out of 5 stars MUST, 24 Sep 2010
This review is from: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Must for early Tom Jones fans (my choice is 70's early 80's), loved choice just disappointed cos My Way is not on there. Went for this for particular songs, this one had most that I liked.
