5.0 out of 5 stars She Had It All
Some rave about Ella Fitzgerald, her tonal purity and mirth, but say she could lack emotional depth (not sure I agree). Some rave about Billie Holliday, but have to cede that she had a narrow range, although she was a groundbreaking stylist. Sarah Vaughan was the third great female voice of jazz, and believe you me, she lacked nothing!

3.0 out of 5 stars Sound quality poor
This is a good selection of her early work but unfortunately the sound quality is very poor & there are much better quality discs out there.
I recommend the Gitanes jazz round midnight disc..

This album is a wonderful budget introduction to one of the most remarkable voices of all time. Her range and her sheer musical intelligence are unsurpassable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sarah Vaughan- the Ultimate Voice, 9 Dec 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Essential Sarah Vaughan (Audio CD)
This CD is a selection of some of Sarah Vaughan's more recognised and most beautiful material. her rich, brown contralo voice is finely represented on this CD which includes tracks such as Summertime, Aint Misbehavin', and Time after Time.
A must for all Sarah Vaughan lovers.
