5.0 out of 5 stars a great game!!!
Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire are 2 great games that a big improvement on the previous Pokemon titles - the best improvements being the new Pokemon, Pokemon Contests and 2-on-2 trainer battles. There's hours of gameplay in it - I haven't even beaten the Elite Four on my copy of Pokemon Sapphire yet, and I've already spent over 40 hours playing!

3.0 out of 5 stars A flawed gem
I have been playing the Pokémon games since Yellow on the Gameboy Colour. Love 'em or loath em, these 'kids games' are the best RPGs around on both gameboys. This game is, on the face of it, little different from previous outings. Lots of new Pokémon to fight, some new moves and gimmicks thrown in, and a team of Genuinely Evil Bad Guys to beat on.

The only downside is the fact that you can't trade with older versions of the Pokemon games and that you can only actually catch 200 Pokemon because many of the older Pokemon can't be caught (they've been programmed into the games, but you can't catch them without using a Gameshark). This leaves a big question about how to catch these Pokemon though... perhaps they will be unlocked with a Gamecube game in the future??? I hope so!

After saying this though, if you've enjoyed the other Pokemon titles, you won't be disappointed. This is well worth your money, and not to be missed by Pokemon fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars A GBA masterpiece, 19 April 2007

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Pokémon Sapphire Version (Video Game)
Pokemon Sapphire is a brilliant game. Great graphics, great story, great new pokemon, great new features! This game is my top GBA game as it is a pokemon game. You dont need cutting edge action scenes for a beautiful game, you just need a good storyline and good creations. The new starter pokemon aren't as good as the previous ones. I recommend mudkip for your first.

I have had this game for nearly 4 years now and I still hum and whistle the fantastic music, the best out of all games. You should play this game on a DS with the backlit screens and you will LOVE the colour!

I love all RPGs games and this is up with the best of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pokemon sapphire-brilliant game, 28 Jun 2004
This review is from: Pokémon Sapphire Version (Video Game)
This game has an in depth story line which you catch, train and and befriend new monsters while thwarting Team Aqua's attempts to control a powerful legendary pokemon.Hours of fun and you can link to Pokemon colloseum to import the original beasties and use E card reader for more surprises.
I really recommend this to anyone who loves RPG & adventure.

4.0 out of 5 stars The best pokemon game yet?, 6 Feb 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Pokémon Sapphire Version (Video Game)
I've had Sapphire for nearly two months now, and I'd say it's probably the best one in the series so far. The new features such as the contests are great, the graphics are better than ever (I know they seem almost identical at first, but try going back to Gold/Silver after a week or two and you'll see the difference), and the special abilities and 2-on-2 battles add a new dimension to the strategy. There are problems though - loads of the best pokemon from previous games don't appear, a couple of secret features need the E-card reader (which isn't even out in the UK yet), and many features from previous games are gone. Still, this is the best pokemon game yet, and well worth a try.

3.0 out of 5 stars A flawed gem, 5 July 2004
This review is from: Pokémon Sapphire Version (Video Game)
I have been playing the Pokémon games since Yellow on the Gameboy Colour. Love 'em or loath em, these 'kids games' are the best RPGs around on both gameboys. This game is, on the face of it, little different from previous outings. Lots of new Pokémon to fight, some new moves and gimmicks thrown in, and a team of Genuinely Evil Bad Guys to beat on. Did I mention that you choose between a Water, Fire or Grass Pokémon and that your mother has no problem with her 10 year-old wandering across the country alone? Sound familiar?

Aside from beating on the design of the game, the way it works out has some flaws too- despite the fact that this is a GBA, you STILL can't move diagonally. There are STILL pointless moves that you have to teach your prized monster to progress through the game (and can't be deleted normally). For the hardcore strategists among you, yes, the much-maligned HM slave is still around. There are still unavoidable fights against other trainers- you are told not to look people in the eye if you don't want to battle. Do this and you will still get the irritating exclamation mark and no chance to turn down the challenge. Honestly, if Nintendo had fixed those three (rather basic) things there might have been an extra star in it for them.

Having said that, the game is still just as much of a blast as its predecessors. Sure, the non-appearance of many of the earlier Pokémon is disappointing, but hey the forthcoming Fire Red/Leaf Green together with Pokémon Colloseum (GC) will soothe most such pains. And for the record, Sapphire is slightly easier than Ruby because the Legendary Pokémon you catch near the end (Kyogre) is better against the Elite Four (cheatingly strong gym-leader types you have to fight one after the other. and there's actually five battles).

4.0 out of 5 stars The best pokemon game, 25 Mar 2004
This review is from: Pokémon Sapphire Version (Video Game)
Right now it's nearly 3 months that i have pokemon sapphire and i think that it's the best pokemon game. They have a lot in common with the past versions. The grapphics are way better than the last versions, and you can battle with two on two so if you have a Fire pokemon and a Water than they could stick together. Also after 6 version they finaly change the elite four champion Lance to champion Steven. I don't no about you people out there but i think that it's a spectacular game that why it's going to be a decendant from me to my son to my grand son, to my grand-grand son and lower until it gets broken.

I'm an oldie gamer and have never displayed an interest in those weird creatures called Pokemon - until now - and I can't get enough! Pokemon Sapphire is quite simply the best game I've ever played on any system. It has had me occupied for over 100 hours as it's the kind of game you can either play for 5 mins or several hours at a time. Even when you complete all the bosses there is still loads to amuse you with. I particularly enjoy breeding and evolving Pokemon and have yet to catch 'em all. If you're not sure, give it a try as I was really surprised at just how good this game is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best pokemon game ever!!!!!!!, 13 Aug 2003

This review is from: Pokémon Sapphire Version (Video Game)
Pokemon sapphire is definetly the best pokemon game so far. There are 8 legandry pokemon and a fossil pokemon. You do need to now someone with ruby to complete your pokedex but that don't really matter. It is a chanellenging but fun game. I suggest you get a guide as it easier and you make sure you don't miss anything. It also shows the 200 new pokemon. I have had it since it came out and my brother got ruby and we help each other out if we get stuck. This game is ace.
