3.0 out of 5 stars Review of Stargate SG1 S4
I did not enjoy as the previous seasons. A bit of a boring, keeps repeating itself. Here starts that the story line is cut abruptly without any tie up.
Though the commentary is fun but I would have appreciated couple of them with the main actors not only the director and the visual effects producer, occasionally the writer(s).

This season of Stargate SG-1 is nothing short of fantastic. The production has been kicked up a notch, with increased screen clarity and greater use of special effects.
There is also more humour injected into several episodes, and the cast and directors manage to pull it off briliantly, without making it look forced.
The writers also manage to deliver potent messages within some of the episodes, which will really make the viewer think.
Most importantly, this is the first season to include Audio Commentaries, which are fantastic to listen to, even for people who aren't interested in TV production.
Overall, all the episodes and special features in this season are phenomenal, and for those reasons, this box set should be in every sci-fi fan's collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Brilliant the best season yet, 3 Mar. 2005

This review is from: Stargate SG-1 - Season 4 [DVD] (DVD)
I was quite slow to join the stargate craze and infact I have bought the first 4 dvd boxsets within 2 weeks and have just finished watching them.
I would have to say that this season, number 4 was the best so far, there are some really funny episodes and the whole Carter/O'neill attraction thing gets some attrntion. The best episodes in this season are : Window of opportunity and crossroads. Window of opportunity has the funniest scene I have seen in a while. Teal'c and O'neill juggling - it is worth buying it just to see that episode.
Also Amazon offers a much cheaper price than other websites or shops, and with super saver delivery, all you pay is the price of the boxset.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Enjoyable Season, 3 Aug. 2003
This review is from: Stargate SG-1 - Season 4 [DVD] (DVD)
After careful consideration, I worked out that this is probably my favourite season of Stargate, which is why I bought it. If you're familiar with the programme, season 4 featured more:
high quality adventure (season opener "Small Victories," "Watergate," "Tangent" and season cliffhanger "Equinox" to name a few),
enjoyable comedies ("Window of Opportunity," "Upgrades" and "Point of No Return" are all hilarious),
high concept science fiction ("Beneath the Surface," "2001")
and very involved moral conflicts ("The Other Side" and "Scorched Earth"),
than any other season before or after it, as yet. The characters are also at their peak of humour and interaction, and there's also some attraction between O'Neill and Carter that is expanded this season. Daniel and Teal'c are also given many opportunities to shine.
As well as the superior episodes, all of which will make you laugh at some point amidst the action, the picture quality of this set is greater than seasons 1 to 3, simply because it is newer and Stargate was filmed with clearer lenses. The extras are also a greater bonus- each DVD has some aspect of Stargate behind the scenes talked about, and the interesting and often funny audio commentaries can make all the episodes enjoyable to watch even if you've watched time-loop extravaganza "Window of Opportunity" too many times.
Overall, this should be the essential purchase for big Stargate fans, before the show changed for the worse in the next couple of seasons. The box is a nice orange colour too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best yet!, 19 May 2005
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Stargate SG-1 - Season 4 [DVD] (DVD)
In my opinion this is the best Stargate SG1 series made. Starting with the conclusion to 'Nemesis' tackling the Replicators alongside the Asgard and ending with encountering the mechanical bugs again, dealing with the Tok'Ra, Goa'uld technology, supposed alies and the Harseces child in between. A huge variety of storylines and some of the best one liners from Jack O'Neill, with the inclusion of some great extras and behind the scenes footage. My personal favourites in the series are Small Victories, Upgrades, Window of Opportunity - bet you thought you'd never see Teal'c golfing through the Stargate! - 2010 and Prodigy. Well worth the money as ever with the Stargate SG1 team.

5.0 out of 5 stars And the adventure continues, 23 Aug. 2006

This review is from: Stargate SG-1 - Season 4 [DVD] (DVD)
As the adventure continues sg1 start to have some of the most classic adventures than in any other scfi show in small victories we see how they cope with the replicator threat that started in last seasons cliffhanger nemisis also we have a dab at time travel twice 1st in window of oppertunity in which O'neil and Teal'c find themselves repeating the same day over and over and in the classic 2010 in which it is 2010 and earth is at peace with a race of aliens called the aschen but the treaty does'nt seem to be going as well as it looks in absolute power we continue the story about the harsisus child in which Daniel gets to look at life in a completely different way the episode tangent about an experiment with a new fighter craft that goes awry and exodus in which we start another cliffhanger in which we will see Apothis (Peter Williams)return to cause havoc for sg1 and the torkra yet again.

All in all yet another great season boxset and a must have!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just keeps getting better . . ., 2 Mar. 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Stargate SG-1 - Season 4 [DVD] (DVD)
At this stage of the game - Season 4 - you would be forgiven for thinking that the pace might slacken a little, but the SGC is having none of it. The storylines are crisp, original and retain that crucial sense of humour that makes Stargate a cut above the rest. It includes the excellent episodes Upgrades, Divide and Conquer (which clears up that pesky O'Neill - Carter "thing" ), Window of Opportunity, a take off of Groundhog Day, which was hilarious and the stunning special effects of Watergate.
Added to all this there are extras and lots of them, from interviews, behind the scenes with the special effects crew, profiles of the SG-1 team and "yak tracks" (commentaries) on ALL the episodes.
Well worth the wait.

5.0 out of 5 stars Season Four, 11 April 2010

This review is from: Stargate SG-1 - Season 4 [DVD] (DVD)
This fourth season of Stargate SG-1 is somewhat superior to the previous season and despite the series overly episodic nature is very entertaining. This season sees the SG-1 team deal with Replicators, Russians, primitive Unas and a resurgent Apophis, among other things.

This series includes many very good episodes such as the season premier `Small Victories', the brilliantly funny `Upgrades' and the more serious episodes `The Curse' and `Serpents Venom'. This season also includes the episode `Window of Opportunity' which is my all time favourite Stargate SG-1 episode and the best time loop episodes ever made. There are far less poor episodes in this season with only really `The Other Side' and `2010' being really bad.

The acting and writing of the series remain as good as ever but their does seem to be a bit of an improvement in the special effects for this season, especially in the season finale `Exodus'. Overall this is a very good, if episodic season of SG-1.

5.0 out of 5 stars Season 4: beats 1 - 3 put together!!, 18 Dec. 2009
This review is from: Stargate SG-1 - Season 4 [DVD] (DVD)
Obviously, Season 4 follows up on the cliffhanger Season 3 left us on.

Season 4 could quite possibly be one of the best out of the entire series. The writers have picked up on fans complaints about useless episodes and are now making more episodes that contribute to the storyline. The humour of SG1 is really shown in the episode "Window Of Opportunity". We also discover hidden, yet obvious strong feelings between 2 characters and lose a familiar character which is quite a sad moment. This season really picks up the the pace, what with the show finding its footing in Season 3, and shows just how big a threat Apophis can become, not to mention political squabbles as Russia has a big surprise for the audience...

Overall, this is one of the most epic seasons in the series, with resonable twists and surprises and improved special effects, this is the season that lead SG1 to be the best Sci-Fi series ever made.

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best series of the lot, 26 Mar. 2003
This review is from: Stargate SG-1 - Season 4 [DVD] (DVD)
Stargate: SG1 - following the úber hit film "Stargate" There was always scope for a series, with so many untied strings - and now in its fifth series, the stargate name has proven to be a complete and utter Star Trek beater, with the sci-fi elements beautifully mixed with the action and the underlying political influences it really is the genre #1. Series 4: Is probably the best of all the series, with the pathetic replacement of Daniel really annoying alot of the series fans in S5. If you are going to buy any one series of SG1 then buy this one! And if you are going to buy any other Sci-Fi, no ANY other box set full stop - then again - stop, and buy this one... Absolutely 5 stars...

This has to be my favourite Stargate SG1 season and I'm writing this towards the end of season 7. This season seems to include many episodes involving the Tokra but don't let that put you off! This season also builds on the relationship between Sam and Jack, leaving us wondering if that will be addressed when Stargate finishes. This is a great season with many funny episodes such as "Window Of Opportunity", which is based on Groundhog Day.
