This is a fantastic film and debut, a landmark of the social realism trend in british cinema. I'm no scholar, but I would like to point out that it terribly needs remastering as the sound on this DVD is absolutely dreadful, with a lot of hisses and a very clearly dubbed-on feel. It does add a bit to its charisma, but at the same time, it really rattles the ear.

Initially I purchased the movie for my Grade 2 daughter, as the name appears to be one of the recommended movies for kids. It is not. It's a great movie and one to be included in your collection, but definitely not a kid's movie. Strong language, often slangs and overall theme of the movie doesn't fit for kids.
