5.0 out of 5 stars Live shows just don't get better than this..., 2 Dec. 2002
This review is from: Korn: Live At Hammerstein Ballroom [DVD] [2003] (DVD)
The first official full release of a live KoRn show, and it fails to disappoint! This recording of a perfomance that was broadcast live to over fourty theatres across the USA shows digital use to the extreme. The entire backdrop is a long video of unusual and twisted images, adding to the spectacularity of the set. Playing old and new songs alike, hitting off with the first single off Untouchables, 'Here To Stay' turns the crowd into a sea of waves. Old school hit 'Twist' interludes between that and the ever-popular 'ADIDAS'. All of the golden oldies are here, whether that be 'Faget', 'Shoots And Ladders', or the superior fan-favourite, 'Blind'. New tracks rip the crowd apart, such as 'Embrace', 'Blame' and the hit single 'Thoughtless'. There's even a classic cover thrown in, a small rendition of Metallica's 'One', and the best hits from the last few albums also feature, including 'Falling Away From Me', the MTV-loved 'Freak On A Leash', and the show-stopping 'Got The Life'.
Anyone whose seen them live recently will have seen a show dam similar to this, and they should know that you cannot avoid watching it again and again. Recorded performances like this are worth paying out the money to watch. The DVD also comes with a second bonus disc, featuring a making-of the live show, and even the entire backdrop video, in full!
If you've got the money, buy this DVD. It is quality for the money you pay, and it will not disappoint anyone. If your not a KoRn fan, you will be after this.

5.0 out of 5 stars KoRn....they rock!, 3 Dec. 2002

This review is from: Korn: Live At Hammerstein Ballroom [DVD] [2003] (DVD)
What can i say?...KoRn absolutely rock! This is a great DVD, and long awaited, but finally some live stuff to enjoy! I recently went to see KoRn live at the Dockland arena in September, and they were fantastic, they really know how to get a crowd going, and to all those critics out there, they aint lost it! This DVD is really a must have for all the KoRn fans out there, it contains live stuff including classics like, Freak On A Leash, Blind, A.D.I.D.A.S, and my fav..Make Me Bad, as well as the new stuff, Here To Stay, Embrace, and One More Time, to name a few. The DVD also has a docementary on the making of this. This has gotta be a must for anyone who couldn't see the band live, sit back and enjoy,(or get up and jump around madly!) this will make you feel like you were there....!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, 8 July 2004
This review is from: Korn: Live At Hammerstein Ballroom [DVD] [2003] (DVD)
Live @ Hammerstien is without a doubt, KoRn at their best. An amazing light show, the music is perfect and often better than the album versions (check out "Embrace" for proof!). The behind the scenes footage is cool and refreshingly in-depth. The only flaw is the 30 second burst of Metallica's "One", because having seen the band perform the whole song, getting just a snippet isn't enough!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant and Loud!, 27 Jun. 2006
This review is from: Korn: Live At Hammerstein Ballroom [DVD] [2003] (DVD)
Wow!!! first of all, dont expect too much in the way of extras on this disk, theres hardly any? and now thats out of the way.... WOW! this is a great example of just how good korn are live. for a band nearing ten years old they sound fresh and lively its a brilliant mix of classics such as Blind, Adidas and Twist mixed with the newer stuff such as thoughtless and got the life. one of the highlights is when davis straps on the bag pipes and the band break into shoots and ladders, its brilliant. this Dvd is also a visual treat, the band look great, the lighting is perfect and davis as ever holds on tightly to his Gorgeous $50000 mic stand created by H.R Giger. this is an awsome live show and if your a korn fan or just a fan of the genre you need to see this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great stuff., 12 Dec. 2002
This review is from: Korn: Live At Hammerstein Ballroom [DVD] [2003] (DVD)
KoRn have put out a Live DVD that doesn't feature them high/drunk/worn down. And it's really good, excellent in fact. The show was a one hour version of their set that was played at the Hammerstein ball room in New York City the night before there latest album was released. It was broadcast Live around the US with some new technical techniques used.
KoRn themselves play nearly faultlessly all the way through, with great visual effects put in and some excellent editing. However, this IS the recording of the live transmission and as a result has all the slight errors that the Tech's were making. This is a unavoidable problem and they did a great job, however it's still noticable if you watch it with focus that I watch these things. ;-)
They play a nice mix of songs from all the albums and there is only on song I would fault, that song being "Thoughtless" while I keep in mind that at this point they had never played it to an audiance there was something strange going on. Maybe the levels were off, maybe somebody was playing out of time with the others, it's still a bit odd....not bad....just odd.
Extras are nothing too spectacular, it's some behind the scenes footage of everyone looking VERY unhappy with what they had to do and the footage from the "Video wall" behind the band as they play. The extra's are good, but I expected more from a double DVD!
In anycase, it's a great DVD with a great performance, it's just a pity there isn't more. Still worth the money spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars koRn fans...buy this!!, 2 Dec. 2002

Another must have koRn DVD after Deuce!
This dvd shows the entire gig at the hammerstein from their 'Untouchables' tour. Mixed in with some cool but sometimes annoying special effects this is what the fans wanna see...the band live. The DVD also has behind the scene talk from the band on playing hammerstein and how the gig was setup with visual mix videos of all the songs (these were the videos that were played on screens at the untouchables gigs).
This is a must have follow up to Deuce because all that was missing was just not enough longer live songs from their gigs and the untouchables material, which this DVD makes up for! If like me you went to the london arena gig(s) you won't see the exact same songs that were played there but prepare for a throughly good live performance from the guys!!
koRn Rule! Bring on the next album and another dvd to go with it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Korn on top!, 27 Dec. 2008
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Korn: Live At Hammerstein Ballroom [DVD] [2003] (DVD)
I was slightly sceptical about buying this DVD as I don't usually make a habit of buying live shows, however what a buy! The show is absolutely fantastic. Having recently bought the `untitled' album, I have been on a nostalgic path revisiting all my Korn stuff (and buying stuff to fill in the gaps). I still maintain that the departure of Head and David has crippled the band, and buying this DVD reaffirms my beliefs. The energy/intensity is plain to see in this show, this is Korn in good form.
The DVD itself is really well presented, granted there aren't loads of features but still worth every penny.
If you are a Korn fan you will love this, it's as simple as that!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of KoRn's best shows, ever!, 30 April 2011
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Korn: Live At Hammerstein Ballroom [DVD] [2003] (DVD)
This is an amazing show, both in terms of its unique approach to the show {shot live and shown in theatres across the USA}, and in terms of the raw power of the music. If you're a KoRn fan then you'll appreciate it through and through, as is evident from those in attendance, or even if a fan of metal and a good show in general, you'll take something away from it; cementing KoRn as a band that were and are... Here to Stay! \nn/
