4.0 out of 5 stars **** VERSION 1.5 ****
As most of the world knows by now, X-Men is the live-action version of the of the Marvel comic strip, directed by Bryan Singer (of the Usual Suspects fame). Set in the not too distant future the X-Men are humans who thanks to genetic mutation have inherited special powers. A box office hit back in 2000 taking in over $157m at the US box office alone, 2003 sees the sequel...

3.0 out of 5 stars A good film... but... careful on the extras...
I'm a great fan of the X-men movie and would watch it over and over again, but I bought the DVD expecting the extended scenes to be merged sensibly into the movie, but I was hugely disappointed. The extended scenes were almost extra peices tagged in, rather than someone actually taking the time and effort to stitch them together (a la Lord of the Rings extended)...

4.0 out of 5 stars The DVD is impressive, the film, so-so,
Right, firstly, lets address the movie.
A good film. The comic book, as most are, is not believable, but is great fun to read. If your not careful, as with other comic films, it become laughable. But the film is reasonably realistic, the characters are strong, yet needing time to be developed. Hence why the sequal is so good. We now know the character from the first film. NOt as much action as there could be, but that was because of a limited budjet for a comic book film, it was the first before spidy, hulk, and daredevil. Yet is better than them!
The DVD 1.5 is excellent, loads of extras, commentries, trailers, sneak peaks, but the making of is extensive, and there are interviews with the cast on most aspects of the movies.
overall. film 4 stars, DVD extras 10 stars if i could!

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Too Special,
The film itself is great. I enjoyed it very much, and thought that I might as well buy this set instead of the original DVD. I can't say that I was disappointed, as usually you find these kind of sets for around £20, but the second disc of 'special' features weren't too great. It's vaguely interesting to watch to see the background info, but you wouldn't want to watch the second disc more than once. The X-2 sneak peeks are also no more that 2 minutes each. Theres a trailer, and some other thing which couldn't have been that good or I would have remembered it.
If you've seen the film, and liked it, but haven't got it yet, this is definitely worth the money, as it is a better alternative to the original DVD. However if you already own the film, this isn't anything too special.

2.0 out of 5 stars No Justice!,
Honestly... for the X-Men, this movie was a horrendous disappointment. It didn't capture anything at all and if anything tarnished the true reputation and amazement of what the X-Men comics are about. The movie is one huge snorfest... and if you are gonna buy the DVD... I suggest you only do it if you are in desperate need of a paperweight or a door stopper!

1.0 out of 5 stars Special Edition ?,
By A Customer
Why did they call this X-Men 1.5 ?.... The "Enhanced View mode including 6 extended scenes" is a joke. The bits don't fit in at all. The same scene is at one point repeated twice. Not that it is particularly nice that the contrast and brigthness is completely different in the added scenes. It is also in Letterbox format. The different screen format is probably not as noticable as it could have been since it takes my DVD player to pause and load for about 10 second before each special scene.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bit dissapointing,

The documentaries are a lot more in depth however and are very humorous to be honest, however the X2 sneak peak is nothing but interviews and footage from the first trailer, which is on the second disc anyway. One annoying thing is that you can only see the deleted scenes when they are integrated into the movie, you cant see them seperately. I havent listened to the commentary as i never listen to them, i'm not a fan of them at all, not even on my favourite films. I havent looked at the pop-up documentary integrated into the movie either, but i believe they are very informative.
You do get more than the first disc but not much more, i'd say only if your a diehard fan, which i am, to buy this dvd. And if your a fan of commentaries because i hear the the ones on the first disc are informative and funny.
And of course the film is very good, responsible for the current glutt of comic book movies i feel, and is soon to be overshadowed by X2. Very good acting and character development are its strong points, but the small bits of action are quite good, though nothing compared to that of Blade 2's, and of course its great to see the characters on screen for the first time in a good movie. Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart all nail their characters perfectly and are a joy to watch. But, watching the film you do get the sense that it was rushed and didnt quite have the budget it needed, which is what the reality with the actual movie was. Though credit must go to Singer for still managing to make a good movie with what he had. And i have a feeling that X2 will be the movie that Singer wanted to make first time.
So overall, i think this would be a good purchase for die hard comic/X-men fans, but for anyone else, buy at your own risk.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool Movie!,
This is a cool movie. The comic books are bought to life with great performances from Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. It is very fast paced and is a must see if you want to enjoy the second film just as as much. Go buy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the best value for money !!!,

Xmen in my opinion was and still is a good film for all the family. However the Xmen 1.5 DVD seriously lacks good features and in some places just plain boring. My opinion is to wait till Xmen 2 is released on DVD in the future. There seems to be a lot more action in this sequal.
