It was a suggestion by Ken Barnes which led to the production of this CD combining the songs from the two films sharing the common bond of Bing Crosby, 'White Christmas', Irving Berlin and Paramount. Ken was preparing a Diamond Anniversary Edition DVD of 'Holiday Inn' for Universal (who now own Paramount and Decca) and he encouraged Universal to put out a linking CD with the addition of the 'White Christmas' film songs. Sound engineer Peter Reynolds (who has worked his magic on earlier Crosby issues) has re-mastered the songs to produce first class quality sound and overall this makes a very nice package indeed which should be very popular with the general public as well as the Crosby fanatics. On the original commercial recording of 'Easter Parade' it was evident that Bing had a cold, so the soundtrack version has been substituted here and this is a great improvement. The original 1942 recording of 'White Christmas' has also been used and Peter Reynolds has made a marvellous job of restoring this. This must be the best version of the song you will ever hear. Running time: 61 minutes.
