5.0 out of 5 stars The best Stevie Wonder compilation
It is easy to be confused by Stevie Wonder compilations. In the nineties, a double CD was released in America titled Song review, while a single CD was released in Britain with the same title and artwork. More recently, a single CD was released in America titled Definitive collection, so (conversely) a double CD was released in Britain with the same title and artwork...

Wonder is one of the greatest musicians of all time, and so it should be a crime for anyone not to own this CD, fan or not of Stevie Wonder's.

5.0 out of 5 stars Epic Legendary Singer/ songwriter at a great price!, 3 Jun. 2013

There seem to be 3 versions of Stevie Wonders Definitive Collection at 3 different prices. According to Wikipedia the cheapest is the 2 disc 2002 UK edition, the next dearest is the 1 disc US version and the most expensive is the 2003 re release 2 disc UK edition with 1 extra track. Bearing in mind the dearest is twice the price of the cheapest and there's only 1 extra track I went with the cheapest!....
I am not normally into motown but when listening to these tunes I couldn't help whistling or humming along and kept on thinking "Oh I didn't know he did this song!"....His songs pretty much cover the whole gamut of human emotion and his voice portrays it so well - from the heartbreaking "Lately" to the full of adoration "Isn't she lovely"....
For those like me who have an eclectic taste in music- give this a try and add Stevie to your collection!

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, 19 Mar. 2014

From the mid-1960s right through to the mid-1980s, Stevie Wonder was a highly welcome addition to the British music scene with his lovely songwriting skills, distinctive vocal style and funky keyboard sounds. This compilation in its 2 CD format covers all the classic hits from the early splendour of 'My Cherie Amour', 'You Are The Sunshine Of My Life' and 'Yester-Me, Yester-You Yesterday' and on through some mid-1970s blockbusters ~ the brilliant 'Superstition' and the superb 'Living for The City'. Arguably, the 1980s material is less inspiring with 2 notable exceptions - the classic ballads 'Lately' and 'Overjoyed' - but this is a fitting tribute album to a great songwriter from the Motown stable

5.0 out of 5 stars The definitive Steve Wonder htis collection...for now..., 6 Nov. 2003

This review is from: The Definitive Collection (Audio CD)
The first collection of Stevie Wonder hits came out in 1968, when he was still a teenager. Of course, as a pre-teen "Little" Stevie gave Motown its first #1 album. In retrospect 1968 turned out to be a pivotal year in Wonder's career, which began covering Ray Charles songs and whose first hit "Fingertips, Part 2" actually came as a pre-teen, because that was the year he finally started writing most of the songs on his album (e.g., "My Cherie Amour"). The Wonder years definitively come in the early Seventies when he was putting out albums like "Music of My Mind," "Talking Book," "Innervisions," and "Songs in the Key of Life." This explains why the middle part of this collection is the best. Stevie Wonder is one of those artists where an album like this presenting his best work should give you impetus to go check out his best albums. Certainly there are artists where a good hits collection is all you need to have in your music library, but Stevie Wonder would not be one of those artists whose distinctive blend of odd riffs, incessant modulations and unpredictable melodies take advantage of his three-octave range. Yes, if you have but one Stevie Wonder album "The Definitive Collection" would be the one to get, but you should also explore at least the middle pair of the above referenced quartet.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must own., 27 Aug. 2013

This is a fantastic album and for most casual Stevie fans like me it really does take you on a journey through the well known tracks through to some that are less familiar. I can put this on and never want to skip tracks or change the disc which is some achievement for a 'greatest hits' and a testament to just how good this album is. The man's voice is extraordinary and I love the way you feel the emotion when he sings. A class act.

Great CD. Isn't the intro to "Superstition" the best intro in music history? The correct answer is "YES".

I adore him. He has an amazing voice and sings with emotion. The songs have meaningful lyrics unlike the rubbish on the radio nowadays. This is a great collection of his biggest hits. His songs are catchy and easy listening. I'm just in my twenties and he is my favourite male singer. He has the perfect voice. He can sing both catchy songs and ballads. He can really hit the high notes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonder-ful!, 3 Jan. 2013
This review is from: The Definitive Collection (Audio CD)
This CD is a truly great example of Stevie Wonder's greatest hits. Excellent musician; excellent record. You'd be a fool to not own this! Stevie's a timeless legend- I'm a 16 year old college student and I have never loved an artist and their music more so than his. Favourite tracks: Isn't she lovely, Sir Duke, Never had a dream come true and If you really love me. Go for it!
