4.0 out of 5 stars Mike Slamer is KING!!!
This is very good, not as good as CRIMES IN MIND, but almost as good... Steve Walsh on vocals and Mike Slamer on guitar is a great combination!!! If you like Seventh Key, then buy this one as well!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars 'Standard 80's American Rock'
'Ist' is a pretty standard 80's American Rock album. Radio friendly riffs, synth stabs and sub Bon Jovi vocals mixed with 'twiddling' guitar solos and soaring backing vocals are the order of the day here. Predictable lyrics and a generally weak set of songs though are what really let the side down.

To be fair, opener, 'If Love Should Go' is a decent enough...

To be fair, opener, 'If Love Should Go' is a decent enough start and will delight lovers of 80's Bon Jovi style rock and second track 'Move On' also has balls and is memorable but from there on really bar 'Everything Is Changing' 'Ist' is lacking in inspiration and originality. I loved Mike Slamer as the guitarist in 'City Boy' but here his solos lack impact and as such fail to lift an average song to greater heights like say Eddie Van Halen might be able to. All in all, the longer the album goes on the less you think of it so unless you loved this at the time and want to upgrade old vinyl I would give this a miss.

Average.
