I bought the Paul Nicholson recording of the Handel Suites on the strength of another favourable reviewer's comment that he wouldn't be without this version. I also bought the complete 3 CD series by Sophie Yates which gives some of the 1733 Book 2 sonatas, whereas Nicholson plays only the better known 1st book of 1720 with a number of fugues as fillers. I agree with your previous reviewer as the suites are superbly played. The tempo is frequently a little steadier than Sophie Yates but still convey the power of these works. A feature of Nicholson'#s playing is the elaboration with decorations of each half as he repeats it. Highly recommended!
