This live album perfectly captures Hugh as he rocks through some of his best songs both old and new.
Opening with an instrumental version of Irate Caterpillar it really does tease you into the next track , which is the excellent Cream classic , White Room ( Hugh says in his book , Song by Song ,that covers need to be better than the original !).So from the depths of 1979, into the more recent sound with Nerves of Steel , Black Hair....with it's droning back up vocals and sharp snare drum sound. The middle section concentrates on Hugh's personal passions with Torture Garden which recalls the movie greats , then ,as he declares to the audience his love of Fish ! Snapper is a really catchy tune - very clever, " If I could have just one more wish , it would be for a fillet of fish ".Following that ,more crowd banter as Hugh explains the reasons behind The Big Sleep ( Robert Mitchum RIP ).
After the melodic ,passion-filled mid section , back to 1979 with Wired ( So what are you on ? !!), some great improvising here !and the eerie chant of Mothra. Hugh rounds off with House of Sorrow and Long Dead Train . No acoustics on this album -see March 2003 for that but having seen Hugh perform in Manchester ,Nov.2002 this is a true reflection of a very talented individual with lots to offer .
