4.0 out of 5 stars "The Boondock Saints" on BLU RAY - Compatibility Problems - Choose The Right Issue...
Two brothers (from the McManus family) decide to rid Boston of its mobsters - one by one. A local cop (Defoe) tries to track them down and stop the systematic killing. But then the Detective begrudgingly thinks - maybe the Irish boys are doing him and the city he loves a genuine favour? "The Boondock Saints" was so well received - it even spawned a sequel nearly a decade...

3.0 out of 5 stars A gem of movie chaos and violance
Two very catholic brothers go on a kind of death wish killing spree, taking out the local mob and generally bad gangsters.

Full of violence, bad language and an exploding cat, this is tainted with humour, stylish gun shoot outs and a very original story telling device.

Some argued it was a rip off of Tarantino style of film making, which is somewhat...

4.0 out of 5 stars "Catch you on the flipside", 31 Jan. 2007
This review is from: The Boondock Saints [DVD] (DVD)
This is a refreshing, rough cut gangster film from the ilk of Pulp Fiction, Snatch etc but without the huge budgets. Admittedly at times the acting can be somewhat sketchy it still doesn't detract from a very entertaining and exciting watch.

Willem Dafoeis the shining light in the whole film, actig wise although I can almost guarantee that come the end of the film you will side for David Della Rocco as your favourite character.

It will split opinion this film, you will either love it or hate it. I have watchedit time and time again and enjoy the humour side of the film and also the story line. All I can suggest is watch it yourself and forge your own opinion... enjoy

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a well known film, but one of the Best, 3 Jun. 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: The Boondock Saints [DVD] (DVD)
This isnt really an amazingly well known film, it has no major actors like Samuel L Jackson or Jack Nicolson. But that doesnt mean anything the actors do a great job. The film is superb, its the kind you want to watch over and over. It has some great speeches in it as well. Theres great action some humour and an overall quality effect. If your reading reveiws whether to buy it or not then do buy it. The film is in a class of its own . Quality film. Buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic and Orignal, 24 Sept. 2002

An all out action film about two Irish Brothers in Boston who decide to rid the streets of the "anti-social" elements in town. An unusual, but brilliant performance by Billy Connelly more than makes up for the completely woeful Irish accents used by the lead characters. If you don't mind the hammy accents then this film is definately a "must-see"

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptionally good, 14 Mar. 2002
By A Customer
I never even heard of this movie untill I saw it in Germany, out of all places. I expected a rather dull B-rated action thriller, but to my surprise, it was more than that. Great story, certainly not predictable and good acting. I highly recommend it, surely better than those multi-million dollar hollywood things who have great actors, but louse screenplay.

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT the right version. AWFUL., 15 Aug. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Boondock Saints [1999] (DVD)
This is NOT the fabulous, fast-paced version I (and my 2 friends) know from years back. The one that was released in South Africa was amazing. A Hollywood blockbuster of note. THIS version, however - we didn't even know a different version had been made - is completely lacklustre. It's terrible. Not worth a penny.

3.0 out of 5 stars NOTE subtitles won't go away, 5 July 2011

The movie is excellent, that's why I ordered the DVD. Unfortunately, the DVD has Dutch subtitles that cannot be taken away. I wasn't aware of this when I ordered the DVD. It's quite disturbing, and I have now ordered the DVD from another vendor. Other than that, everything's fine.
