5.0 out of 5 stars SEPULTURA'S LAST EVER GIG WITH MAX CAVALERA, 10 Sep 2002
This review is from: Under A Pale Grey Sky (Audio CD)
Sepultura were always known as one the best metal until this very gig at Brixton Academy in London on december 6th 1996 when Max Cavalera left the band.
This album contains there best material performed Live by the best Musician of there time. Songs such as 'Roots Bloody Roots','Attitude', Desperate Cry' and Territory. Songs that will Remain some off the best old skool metal for ever.
This could also be called a 'Best Of' album as the songs are performed so well. This will also be one the last Roadrunners releases of sepultura as they have know left the label.
The only problem with this cd is once you've have listen to it you will want to see on the DVD.
So for True fans of metal and for people who want to listen to the best off sepultura without buying all there other CD's buy this know.
Cheers

5.0 out of 5 stars About time..., 20 Oct 2002
This review is from: Under A Pale Grey Sky (Audio CD)
I had the great pleasure of actually being at this show which I still rate as one of the best shows I will ever hope to witness. The tension of the night was there for all to see and along with the excellent Strife & Floodgate it was a night to remember. Only a few weeks after this recording Max announces he has left the band and this CD stands as great testement to what he accomplished in this ground breaking and legendary band.
The songs covered span from 'Beneath the remains' through to 'Roots' and it shows you how the band evolved over this 10 year period initially as speed metal to the more grinding tribal material that Max has tried to alaborate on in his follow-on band, Soulfly.
The songs are fantastic, the recording is exceptional...this is a must buy for old and new fans of this band alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sepultura. Live. Max., 14 Feb 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Under A Pale Grey Sky (Audio CD)
This is a fantastic CD and well worth getting. It was the last ever show with Max Cavalera (original vocalist/guitarist) and it is when the band were definitely at their creative peak. With the album Roots they had gone more tribal, and this album celebrates that alongside the old(er) material, such as Necromancer, Troops of Doom, and classics like Territory and Slave New World. The best tracks (in my opinion) are Territory, Beneath The Remains/Mass Hypnosis and the furious We Gotta Know. This is definitely worth the money, as it showcases Sepulturas best songs and the production is top-quality, so it's almost a greatest hits album really. 5/5.

This is the old Sepultura line up (n.b not the oldest) and they are definitely on form, in this, sadly Max's last gig, at Brixton Academy. Full of old and new(ish) classics such as Troops of Doom, Arise, Inner Self and Slave New World, this album is worth it if you are a dedicated Sepultura fan, considering getting into the band, or just want some of the best thrash metal around.
(N.B. This was the first Sep album I bought after hearing Beneath The Remains)

what we have here is the final performance of the classic sepultura line up and what they do is tear their way through a rabid performance of their best matierial to date and at a breakneck speed. perfect introduction to the band as every era of the band is represented and the sound quality is fantastic.
