4.0 out of 5 stars Bring Home for yourself a Piece of The Rock
I originally had this on VHS (God, I am getting old!!) and, as recently as a few weeks back, re-purchased this on DVD for a fiver... a bargain, considering the offering here!!

It is a documentary/film detailing the early years and rise of the character of The Rock in the WWF. Now, taking that into account, I have to dictate that it is pretty obvious that Dwayne...

4.0 out of 5 stars Bring Home for yourself a Piece of The Rock, 15 May 2012
This review is from: WWF: The Rock - Know Your Role [DVD] (DVD)
I originally had this on VHS (God, I am getting old!!) and, as recently as a few weeks back, re-purchased this on DVD for a fiver... a bargain, considering the offering here!!

It is a documentary/film detailing the early years and rise of the character of The Rock in the WWF. Now, taking that into account, I have to dictate that it is pretty obvious that Dwayne (The Rock) speaks an awful lot for Company (kayfabe) reasons during the film... so his interview segments that are supposed to be genuine do not feel that way; you have to watch the film (and have a pretty solid understanding of the 'kayfabe' term) to see where I'm coming from here.

Other than that, the documentary is highly enjoyable. I have been a long-time fan of The Rock character, so lots of the segments covered on this disc bring back warm memories for me. A personal favourite of mine is when the Rock has Chyna (remember her???) alone, trapped in the ring and he insults her BIG-TIME, all while having D-X Members trapped inside their locker room by means of a fork lift, no less!! Absolute classic moment, which would set the standard for what Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson would ultimately become for the Company.

The matches themselves, I must say, The Rock loses the vast majority of them... but I feel that it must be noted that, in his early years, The Rock was NOT a match winner, especially at big PPVs. He was all about his infamous promos and hilarious interview segments, which ultimately turned him into a fan favourite and a superstar, in his own right. It is this feat, I feel, that the documentary is intended to showcase and, may I say, does so very well.

So, without further ado, whip out your Credit Card, pump this baby into your Amazon Basket and bring home and enjoy a piece and magic of The Rock!!!!
