With his third album, Nicolai Dunger has really hit form, thanks in no small part to help from Will Oldham, aka Bonnie Prince Billy. From the bluesy opener, and stand out track, Last night I dreamt of Mississippi to the simple country of tracks light Hey Mama and Ol' Lovers, this is a delight. His slightly gravelly voice matches the sentiment and simplicity of the tunes perfectly, and it is hard to believe music like this comes from Sweden, not small town America. The only criticism is that it can be a bit samey, and does fade somewhat towards the end but not enough to detract from a truly excellent album.
