5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent 'best of' the Frank & Walters' indie classics, 26 Aug 2002
This review is from: The Frank And Walters (Audio CD)
The Frank & Walters make happy, upbeat indie music. With catchy, melodic guitar riffs, a terrific rhythm section and funky, zany lyrics, each song is instantly likeable and are mini-classics in themselves.
There are songs here from all of the Franks' albums. Paul Linehan's distinctive voice (he's from Cork, Ireland) hovers between the indie/rock/pop genres, but remains consistent and impressive. Songs from the early 90s sit well with newer tracks - contrast the amazingly catchy 'After All' with the introspective, brooding 'How Can I Exist'. The goofy, surreal lyrics on 'Walters Trip' and 'Fashion Crisis Hits New York' cannot but make you smile, while tunes such as 'Colours' will lodge in your brain and entertain you long after the track ends.
This album defines a quality period in Irish indie music, and will be a welcome addition to fans of The Frames, Revelino & REM. If you're looking for catchy guitar-driven indie music, this is an ideal starting point.
