I bought these both for my own children and the children I look after. The product is so much fun for the children, and allowing them to look at the underneath is excellent. The only downfall I would find with it is that the lid does not screw on so if the child tips it slightly the lid falls off.

Cheap junk. The peeper holes are more blurry and unfocussed than looking at the tiny insects directly close up. The magnifiying cap/area is not screw on - just hold over the top so that bugs are not contained. Not enough space to create a little temporary home. So all in all why would you buy this ?

An excellent fun toy. My 21 month old daughter just loves the creature peeper and can't wait to get outside to find the bugs to put inside the viewer. The nice thing is that they can be released again without any harm. The peeper comes with a plastic bug inside - just remember Mums if you are anyway nervous of bugs - don't let this plastic one get out of sight. I found it in the dark on my hall stairs and let out a very large scream.

I bought this for my two year old a couple of days ago and it was an instant success. She immediately liked the idea that she could keep bugs contained and get a good look at them.

There were two obvious issues for me though. The first is that which everyone has identified - the cone shaped lid falls off very easily. I had to solve this by putting masking tape on the inside of the lid to give a lot more friction.

The second problem was that both the magnifying glasses are out of focus. The top one slightly, but the bottom one quite a lot. I have very good eyesight with no need for correction and I have great difficulty focusing on the underneath of the bugs :( My daughter doesn't seem to care though so it is good enough for me!

On the plus side, once the lid falling off problem is sorted this is a great source of interest and enjoyment to my little girl. It is easy to handle for her small hands and gives her a safe and controlled way to get up close and personal with creepy crawlies who otherwise scare her when they jump, fly or scurry at her.

This is a great toy and my 4 and 2 year old grandchildren have loved looking at all sorts of bugs out of the garden. The magnifying feature is excellent. My only criticism would be that the top section does not screw on, it just places on which means that it can come apart fairly easily and the bug can then escape. This was especially a problem for the younger child who doesn't always hold thing tightly.

No problems here. The kids loved it. They dropped it a few times as kids do and it did not break. I was very happy with this. Would recommend

It looks good but I agree that the lid should screw on as I was assailed by a furious spider at one point when my two year old knocked off the lid. The viewing holes are blurred not in focus so you can only make out a rough outline of the insect. I dropped in on grass and a part cracked off. Rubbish!

Considering this is aimed at children it is really good quality. I happily gave this to a child to play with, there's no way that it will get broken and leave sharp edges which a child could hurt themselves on.

It's easy to use and the magnification is really good. It's good fun and because of the two viewers you can see the underneath of an insect as well as looking at them from the top.

For younger children this would be a bit more challenging to use because of the way you screw the top on, so would need plenty of adult intervention - not an independent toy for younger children.
