5.0 out of 5 stars ¡Guay!,
This review is from: Un Dia Normal (Audio CD)You've probably heard this album without realising whilst on holiday in Spain, where Juanes is huge. Sadly Latino music has yet to catch on over here, and perhaps it never will, which is so sad. A song's lyrics may be totally inane, but for us Brits they have to be in English, so we miss out on so many great Latino artistes like Café Tacuba, Diego Torres and Juanes, a brilliant Columbian singer / songwriter who has now broken into the German and French markets. Produced by Gustavo
Santaolalla, who did the music for 'Motorcycle Diaries' and 'Amores Perros', Juanes writes catchy tunes with meaningful lyrics. Students of Spanish may be interested to learn that the lyrics of the first track 'A dios le pido' are an excellent example of the subjunctive in action!
This is a splendid album and a superb introduction to Latino pop music, which is just as good as the Anglo-Saxon version; some might say better.

4.0 out of 5 stars Una Joya,
By A Customer
This review is from: Un Dia Normal (Audio CD)wow, que disco! Una joya de 2002.
This is such a good album. I really enjoyed it all the way through. Bought it originally because of the first single, A Dios le Pido, which is excellent, diez puntos, a weird but cool mix which talks about just getting the best out of life, but not just the normal love type things, but about familiy respect and pride in his country. And Un Dia Normal is wicked too, about turning something normal into something special. When I first heard the duet with Nelly Furtardo, wasn't too sure, but it has really grown on me. And the Historia de Juan is a bit unusual too, really worth listening too. Así que si querés un disco interesante, fácil de escuchar y algo que representa la muusica Latina actual, dale, anda a comprarlo! Espero que siga en los pasos de Shakira y que consiga el exito mundial.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album,
This review is from: Un Dia Normal (Audio CD)Fantastic album. Lively, tuneful and lyrics that you can practice your Spanish to. I heard it all the way from Guatemala to Chile while travelling through Central and South America 4 months ago. There isn't a bad track on the whole album so if you'd like to try some latin music, you can't go far wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great music,
This review is from: Un Dia Normal (Audio CD)I recently discovered such a great talent. Not only is he a great humanitarian, in his native country Colombia, but his talent has been praised by a number of Grammys to his name. I love the lyrics and his musicality. I highly recommend the 'Mi Sangre' compilation CD with some great tracks like A Dios Le Pido¡¦, ¡'Es Por Ti¡, 'Para Tu Amor' and others. Check out his collaboration with Herbie Hancock¡¦s called'La Tierra on Youtube. Enjoy!
5.0 out of 5 stars I love this album!,
This review is from: Un Dia Normal (Audio CD)I ordered it after buying and liking Mi Sangre and found 'Un Dia Normal' just as good. I'd heard some of the songs (A Dios Le Pido, Es Por Ti, La Paga, Fotografia) as bonus tracks on Mi Sangre which helped. Those four are all favourites along with Mala Gente (gorgeously venomous), La Historia de Juan (Lyrically heartbreaking) and La Noche (Can't stop dancing to it). Those are favourites, but I can't really say there's a bad track on here. Plus translating the songs has expanded my vocab and helped on my Spanish course!!
I really recommend it to anyone, whether you understand Spanish or not, if you like great music, you'll love this album.
5.0 out of 5 stars The best Latin album i own,
This review is from: Un Dia Normal (Audio CD)This album is a must have, Juanes is an amazing singer and performer and puts his all into his music. The lyrics talk about the emotions that the Colombians go through. If you like Latin music or just music in general then this should be a part of everyones collection! My personal favourite tracks on the album is Es Por Ti, A Dios le Pido and La Paga. Buy the album, it is well worth it!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Catchy latin tunes for first times,
This review is from: Un Dia Normal (Audio CD)Looking for an alternative to my usual Enrique Iglesias and Italian music I stumbled on this, I'm so glad I did. Apparently, Juanes is big in South America and is I believe Columbian, he starts off with the very catchy and toe tapping 'Adios Le Pido' and it just keeps on coming. How come the Spanish language songs sound just so upbeat and full of life, love, laughter etc and the Brit stuff we get forced on us here in the UK (Coldplay, David Gray et al) is so well... miserable? Why? What's the excuse, after all Columbia has plenty of problems but at least they know how to enjoy music. So do yourself a favour and give this a spin, you'll soon be hunting around for more Juanes and his type and won't look at boring Brit music the same again.
