5.0 out of 5 stars JTQ on top form!, 13 Jan. 2014
This review is from: Room At The Top (OLD VERSION) (Audio CD)
You will not regret getting this album for lots of reasons... it's simply JTQ at their best. Some great sounds and the production is high quality. This CD is defintely a soundtrack to summer, with some very funky tunes and great Funk & Soul vocals. If you're a JTQ fan, this CD will be in your top three and if you're not yet a JTQ fan, you soon will be. GREAT music!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, 8 Jan. 2013

This review is from: Room At The Top (OLD VERSION) (Audio CD)
This is not typical JTQ, but I'd argue it's one of their strongest albums to date! It gets the pulse racing, and the toes tapping and if it's not making you want to dance it's making the hair on the back of your neck stand up with excitement.

Much of the album sounds like a journey across France in an open top sports car, from the Massif Centrale to the Italian Alps, with a pretty girl wearing a headscarf as your passenger. It really does capture that vibe perfectly and evoke images of Bond/Alain Delon or Harry Palmer. There might even be a tough of the influence of John Barry in there somewhere, and that's all to the good but this is James doing what he does best as only he knows how!

No JTQ collection is complete without this and even for those who aren't necessarily fans of Mr Taylor's Quartet, if you love that kind of 60s organ vibe this needs to be in your CD player.

Just listen to the Black Tuesday song and cry! The best song Tower of Power have never recorded. This is funk at it's best, a collection you will thouroughly enjoy either while driving or if you're throwing a party. Thoroughly recommended.

On the back of the 'New Funk Revival' - the Master returns to lead the way.
Deep Funk / Dancefloor Jazz; whatever you want to call it is surging fourth from trendy live venues through out the country, new bands like The New Master Sounds, The Soul Destroyers are cutting the rug... and at last the Man who has kept it all going for so long has brought out a new collection of tunes that'll Blow Your Top!
James as usual brings forward fresh new talent on vocals: Yvonne Yanney, Lara Rose & Linda Muriel. All names that will be huge in years to come if talent is all you needed! The track FREE will have your feet itching to jump up and dance... there's Brazilian and wah wah influnces too. the dub orietated Daydream #9 and Linda's Steamy Sweet Lover, create the perfect mix.
If it's music 'Aimed @ the Feet' you want look no further.
BUY IT NOW.
