4.0 out of 5 stars A good quality add on, 25 Jun 2002
This review is from: Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds - Clone Campaigns Expansion Pack (PC) (Video Game)
Galactic Battlegrounds:Clone Campaigns is very much more of the same. The game has been tweaked with this expasion however, with several minor alterations to many technologies and units, including the addition of power droids as mobile power sources. Also included for use by the Rebel Alliance is the A-Wing fighter, lighter but able to cause serious damage in numbers.
The Data disk of course, also includes armies of the Old Republic and the Confederacy of Independant Systems, both of which have one unique unit(a Jedi Starfighter for the Republic, a Genosian Warrior for the CIS) some unique research topics and a 7 mission campaign each, though you have to complete the CIS campaign to gain access to the Republic campaign. However, apart from the few unique items they are still identical to the units of the other races, while I don't see much problem with this, other may dislike the uniformity of the races.
It is worthy of note that I actually found myself becoming interested in the (lightly interlinked) plot of the two campaigns something that really none of the somewhat tenously linked campigns of the original achieved. The campaigns themselves are well balanced and never did I think any mission was lost becuase it was unfair, my mistakes were always to blame rather than a failure of mission balancing. Though the AI still makes stupid decisions such as beating waves of it's forces against sections of your defences which are nigh impenetrable to the small numbers it sends- though it puts up a decent fight in other situations.
All in all, this expansion pack really is more of the same, the further baklancing of units is nice, and the new races do manage to have their own style, but as I said earlier, if you disliked the uniformity of the Galactic Battlegrounds forces this doesn't do anything to fix that. If you don't mind that however, this is indeed a very entertaining add on to an already good game.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great add-on, 2 Aug 2002

If you'd played Galactic Battlegrounds, you'll love this add-on. With even more vehicles and technologies, as well as the ability to play as the Galactic Republic or the Confederacy, this game becomes even better.
The scaling of objects is still a bit dodgy, but if you can overlook this, this game is fun to play.
Overall, if you're a fan of Star Wars, and especially Episode II, this is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Add On., 13 Jan 2003

After purchasing Galactic battlegrounds I wondered how a game so addictive could possibly be any better, but that was untill I got hold of copy of this add on, which lets you now indulge your star wars appetite in the all new armies from star wars episode 2, and now I just cant play battle grounds without the add on.
Not only does the add on add the epsiode 2 armies to its engine but also it fixes some of the old bugs in the first one and lets you now research even more great technologies giving you a greater star wars feel to your bettle armies. Not all add ons are worth thier money but this is worth every penny, and really completes so much that was lacking from the first one and that wasnt much believe me, but there is so much to try and do here it will keep you coming back for months and months, so many different ways to attack, sea, air or ground assault, or why not send in an amry of your best and most highly trained jedi or sith's, or why not send out your bounty hunters to hunt them down, and when the battle is won you get much satisfaction when you know you have kicked out all others that have tried to muscle in on your turf, and now you have got control of all resources on the planet and then when all your armies are amassed wipe out your enemies with a single strike, a truly wonderful game to play and so much fun and satisfaction gauranteed, a must buy quite simply a must buy, particularly if your getting a little fed up of the main stream first person shooter, this give you a nice and much wanted alternative.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of New Content, 7 Aug 2012

= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds - Clone Campaigns Expansion Pack (PC) (Video Game)
Clone Campaigns is based on the Clone Wars from episode II. As expansions go, it is pretty good with a bunch of content. It includes two new civilizations, the Confederacy and the Galactic Republic. There is one campaign for each side with 7 missions each. There is also some new features for all civilizations. If you are going to get Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds (SWGB) make sure you get it with Clone Campaigns.

As the Confederacy, you control Sev'Rance Tann on her mission to capture the Decimator weapons and turn them against the Galactic Republic. As the Galactic Republic, you control Echuu Shen-Jon as he chases Sev'Rance Tann and attempts to stop her from using the Decimator weapons. Echuu also showed up during SWGB, so this will give you a little background on him.

I still think the graphics and sound are not good. But, if you are going to get SWGB, make sure you get it with Clone Campaigns. There is a combo pack that has both games (Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds Saga - (PC CD)) and (Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds Saga - Galactic Battlegrounds and Clone Wars (PC CD)).

This game is cool. Mighty armies of the Trade federation smashing the puny Gungans into the ground, mwa ha ha!!!
The new scenarios are pretty good, but really the fun to be had with this add on is being able to use the Confederacy and the Republic in the standard games. Which is sweet. To be fair I can't actually find any bad points about this game. If you own Galactic Battlegrounds and love Star Wars (Like me) then why are you even reading the reviews? Buy now, NOW you hear!!!!! But if you are a Star Wars hater then, again, why are you reading this review? Go elsewhere non-believer!
