4.0 out of 5 stars If you love the Loobiecore...
Whilst not the best introduction to the genius (and I mean that) of Mr. Barlow, 'Free Sentridoh' will delight devotees and gain the attention of anyone prone to a haunting melody and insightful lyrics. It is hit and miss to an extent; to some it may sound as if it were recorded in a toilet on a Fisher Price tape deck (that cannot be ruled out as a possibility!)but to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Lou Barlow's garage sale of Lo-Fi recordings
Free Sentridoh is an collection of Lou Barlow's acoustic home recordings.
If you are familiar with any of Lou Barlow's Sentridoh work you will not find anything too unexpected. Haunting, melancholic songs recorded on simple 4-track tape recorders.
However, if you are expecting anything like One Part Lullaby, (Barlow's highly polished work as part of The Folk...

Whilst not the best introduction to the genius (and I mean that) of Mr. Barlow, 'Free Sentridoh' will delight devotees and gain the attention of anyone prone to a haunting melody and insightful lyrics. It is hit and miss to an extent; to some it may sound as if it were recorded in a toilet on a Fisher Price tape deck (that cannot be ruled out as a possibility!)but to those alive to the mysterious and fragile beauty of Lou's sound world, 'Free Sentridoh' is a must.

Free Sentridoh is an collection of Lou Barlow's acoustic home recordings.
If you are familiar with any of Lou Barlow's Sentridoh work you will not find anything too unexpected. Haunting, melancholic songs recorded on simple 4-track tape recorders.
However, if you are expecting anything like One Part Lullaby, (Barlow's highly polished work as part of The Folk Implosion) you may be disappointed.
Most of the tracks originally appeared on long since deleted 7" EPs.
The very nature of the album makes it a hit and miss affair -in terms of both the music and the production quality. Nonetheless, Barlow is an accomplished songwriter and there are some excellent songs amongst the more average ones.
