This CD (mixed by dj hype-a dnb legened) manages to capture the UKs cutting edge dnb club scene. I've heard the tracks 'Planet Dust', 'Snapped It' played frequently by DJs such as Fabio (NY SUSHI -club Bed, Sheffield) and Andy C (DRUMnBASS ARENA -the Republic, Sheffield). When these tunes boom out they instantly electrify the dance floor.
Other superb tracks include 'Body Rock' with its ascending drum beats and 'The Lighter' a remixed classic from the old school days. Both tracks can only be described as the cream of dnb and are guarenteed to cause involantary foot movements!
One interesting aspect of this CD is -spot the sample-. The range used is wide with anything from a funky James Brown lyric 'Super2Bad', or a bhangra chant 'Nightmare Walking' to a reggae vocal 'Mistical Dub'.
If I were to be critical of this CD I would say that some of the scratching is unimaginative, compared to the fantastic sounds we know hype is capable of producing. This rarely detracts from the music and is only noticable because you expect the best when you know hype is on the turn-tables.
In my opinion this CD is very good, and will suit people who are interested in the current dnb club scene-wether they want to find out what it is like, or recreate it at home (and to hell with the neighbours!). If you like this CD I would sujest you also try 'The Dogs...-DJ Hype' It contains tracks with the same energy as shown here and the scratching is superb.

This is a bangin mix by DJ Hype, and what a way it is to kick off the FABRICLIVE d&b series. I simply had to get this!
Gave it 4 stars simply because I think its arranged in a strange way (starts off bangin, spins off to the darker side then ends on big basslines again). I guess its all a showcase of different styles, if you are new to drum & bass, you gotta have this to start off your journey into the genre.
Starts off kickin with "Moving Fusion - Thunderball", oh man what a tune! Then we witness the awesomness of "Bad Company - Planet Dust". It just carries on after that, switchin bangin basslines and scratchin, Hype's the man! Tha original scratch masta. Along with DJ Zinc - the original junglist.
"DJ Zinc - Casino Royale" is a classic tunage! "Shimon & Andy C - Body Rock" is just electro/d&b heaven. It all ends with bonecrunchin bassline hits of "Dillinja - Grimey". If you are a d&b fan, you gotta have this CD. As simple as that.
PS. DJ Hype, Hype...gimme the funk!!
--->I would loove it if DJ Zinc did a mix for FABRICLIVE<--- wouldnt you?

Absolutely love this album, always playing it in the car, it's great to listen too in any circumstance you may find your self in, such as driving, chilling and obviously raving it out!
In my opinion everything is good about this album from the tracks themselves to the way they are mixed into each other. An excellent example would be one of my favorite tracks on the album - Rodeo by Bad Company
Whether your into your dnb or not I'm sure you will love this album, buy it!!
