'Murder On The Dance Floor' will without doubt prove to be the strongest single to come from Sophie's debut album 'Read My Lips'. With its punchy beat and assured vocals Ms Ellis-Bextor delivers a superb tongue in check disco anthem. The addition of a string section enhances the production values of the track and gives it that touch of class missing in so many of her contemporaries' dance output. The song works not only for Sophie's expanding fan base of thirty something males but will also become a firm favourite with groups of young female karaoke devotees for years to come

Read my lips i thought is a great album although it has been criticized loads, the lyrics are very catchy especially murder on the dancefloor, which is a brilliant song with loads of energy. Sophie is also very gorgeous in this as she is anyway. This is well worth buying the remix of murder on the dancefloor is also good.

I bought this CD because I love the singer in 'Strictly'! I had forgotten just how much I loved the music first time round.

This single is the best buy of a lifetime! This is the first time I actually give a single 5 stars, but how well deserved! Everything is perfect, the lyrics of the title track are exquisite, the music is awesome enough to make any composer jaelous, the art direction of the CD is very well done... Sophie Ellis-Bextor has a lovely voice, soft but expressive, and seems to be very strong-headed. The video is one of the best you will ever see, if not the best, you will enjoy watching it over, over and over again, especially if you like dancing and trying new tricks...
The remix of the title track is very interesting, and the B-side "Never Let Me Down" sounds a little bit like a 80's song... Again, very innovative and naive à la Bextor...
Furthermore, the whole "Murder On The Dancefloor" concept is very humoristic, with a touch of class... Sweet, refreshing and perfect...

I first heard this song on the top 20 uk countdown on the bbc on shortwave on tuesdays and really fell in love with her voice. It is just a beautiful song from begining to end . There are three songs on the cd and each get better than the last. Track one is the single mix of "murder" and is 3:53 while track two is called "never let me down" and is 3:46 and is very guitar/dance/trance like and her vocals are more upfront. The last track is the Parky And Birchy remix by Graeme Park and Paul Birchall and clocks in at 7:24 and kicks ass. IT is agressive and yet retro in the remix by which it has a lot of strings yet still is progressive in its newer euro/house feel. This song would do well if released in the U.S. so please do so. Sophie's "Murder on the Dancefloor" has all the right elements - interesting lyrics, strings, superb guitar playing, a driving rhythm, and good singing. It deserves to get lots of radio and club play. It strikes me as better than her "Take Me Home", and it's not as repetitive as "Groovejet".
