5.0 out of 5 stars More fun than you can shake a stick at
The idea for the story for this film was thought up by Jet Li himself as well as Li putting in his bit for producing the film. But the real goodness of the film comes from Luc Besson and his screen play. This film is dark gritty and uses a wide range of camera and directing skills that the French seem to have a natural flare for doing well.

3.0 out of 5 stars “Kiss Of The Dragon” on BLU RAY - Compatibility Issues With The ‘US’ Disc…
"Kiss Of The Dragon" features the usual mixture of Jet Li Martial Arts mayhem and a bad-guy body count that's satisfyingly large.

However - UK fans should note that despite it's dirt-cheap price across the way - the 'US' BLU RAY on 20th Century Fox is REGION A LOCKED - so it won't play on our machines unless they're chipped to be 'all regions' (which...

This film will bring a smile to anyones face. However i do advise that the ending is a bit over the top blood wise and drags on a bit. But its all part of a well rounded film.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast Furious & Fun, 2 Aug 2002
This review is from: Kiss of the Dragon [DVD] [2001] (DVD)
I felt the villain was superb. He portrays a really nasty piece of work. The tension that he creates is very tangible. It is refreshing to see that the lead villain was NOT casted, on account of his Martial Arts abilities for the final battle, as in many other poorly scripted films, but was there just for his sheer malevolence. Jet Li, was again, unassumingly fantastic. He is, I am sure a valuable role model for young Martial Artists, not just for his technical abilities, but also for the way he seems to carry himself. His acting abilities far outstrip other Martial Art Actors. This is a gritty, fast action film which is well worth watching. OK, so some parts of the script were a little bit unrealistic, but the important point for me was the fact that the fight scenes on the whole were again, refreshingly accurate. A decent kick to the head drops people.
People do not queue up in order to hit you sequentially. For me, this film, together with "Romeo Must Die" are the best films with Jet Li. Forget buying "The One" (the one to avoid watching) and "Black Mask" etc. Have a look at this one.

Buy the UK issue instead – it’s also available for a peanuts amount of money - it's a looker on the format - and has the fab Bridget Fonda looking cute enough to engender marriage proposals...

5.0 out of 5 stars Kiss of Jet Li, 17 May 2003
This review is from: Kiss of the Dragon [DVD] [2001] (DVD)
Kiss of the Dragon may ooze cheese as a title, but this is in fact one of Jet's best movies so far.
Oddly for a film from this genre, the acting and the plot are actually at a very high standard. With Bridget Fonda putting in a fine performance and Tchéky Karyo's character is very believably portrayed. As for Jet Li, I believe that in this film his acting is at its best, with a very emotive presence.
As can be expected, the martial arts and effects are superb, with Jet Li providing all his usual thunder.
What strikes me about this film so much though is its uniqueness, the blend of french emotion and atmosphere, with kung fu is surely a rare idea, and 'Kiss of the Dragon' really does show that originality can still be found.
Jet Li fans will no doubt love this film, but even if you are not one, this film is definately worth watching.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best of Jet Li's Recent Films, 14 Sep 2004
This review is from: Kiss of the Dragon [DVD] [2001] (DVD)
Wow! All the other reviewers have said just about everything there is to say about this film (some of there reviews must be longer than the film's script).
The action in this film is nicely filmed. Jet Li is stunning. Burt Kwok (star of the Pink Panther and Harry Hill) shows that he can be a very good serious actor. Fonda is spot on.
I'd rate this film above The Enforcer and The Black Mask, but below Once Upon a Time In China and Fist of Legend.
With a little more Kung Fu and a bit less gunplay it might have rivalled Jet Li's best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than Jet Li's other American films (Romeo Must Die, The One (2001) and Cradle 2 the Grave), 19 Mar 2014
Jet Li's true masterpiece of the 2000s is a blitzkrieg of crazy, hard-R martial arts. The film was made to satisfy Li's fans, who requested more realistic fight scenes. It is notable as most of the action sequences did not use CGI or wire work; only two scenes required CGI enhancement and only one scene involved wire work.Nicely filmed, acted and scored, "Kiss" is almost more of a drama than an action film.

5.0 out of 5 stars jet li at his best, 17 Nov 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Kiss of the Dragon [DVD] [2001] (DVD)
I like the story of this movie as well as the action. Li is sent to france to help with an investigation some organisation, but the french police chief doesn't take kindly to this and thus organises a set up whereby a japanese politician is killed and li is framed for it. SO he goes about trying to clear his name; meanwhile he meets a hooker (fonda) who has a child for the police chief but is on the street as a worker; li ends up helping the hooker as she is constantly being beaten up by her pimp; which results in the police chief holding fonda's daughter until she brings li in.
That is a bit of a taste of the story but the action and the ending are things I cannot spoil and thus you have to watch the movie yourself. Just a bit of inside info the title of the movie is actually a move performed by Li.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magnifique!!, 1 Nov 2013

An excellent movie, great story, good acting and of course brill martial arts!
Just love actor's who can deliver their martial arts naturally on screen, no doubles,
no speeding up of the camera's. It's just how it should be.
This is one of my favourite Jet LI movies to date.
One of the best scenes in the movie was when Jet's character stumbles into
the dojo by accident and is confronted by a class of martial arts experts.
He has to fight his way out of trouble, reminded me of the scene in "Fist of Fury"
when "Chen" beats up the Japanese guys! I recommend this movie highly!
